Brothers Talk Demo

I started working on a project called OG Cool (Only Good Comes Out Of Living) in the fall of 2013 with one of my best friends, super-producer, Nash B. During that period of time we recorded 30-40 songs towards what I thought would be the final album. The summer of the following year I lost the only hard-drive that had every session file/track-out and bounce for my entire catalog of unreleased music (1200+ songs/production/demos) to that point, (OG Cool included). A few years ago I began to recover some of the music from that hard-drive (Thank God for clouds and email accounts lol) One of my favorites from those album sessions (and closest to me) is a song called "Brothers Talk".

Growing up in the states as a child to an immigrant family, I grew used to not having a lot of blood-related family around me. It was always just me and my little brothers. This upbringing conditioned me to value the people closest to me as family and not just friends.
"Brothers Talk" was a chance for me to hold a conversation with two close friends (that have always been brothers to me) during their times of need. One friend lost a father and the other lost his way.
I originally intended on placing this on the album but for now this is a just a marker for major moments in time. This is the last bounce I did after I originally recorded the record at my home studio.

Much love to the good homie, Myles Stefan for the amazing guitar solo at the end and my lil bro Nash B for supporting me getting back to my production (I made this beat). This song is in honor of my blood brothers Chris and Thorence (Long Live Baby Thor). I consider the people who care enough to listen to and support my music my family. As I work on my album (among a million projects lol) and we continue to build up this VibeHaus family, I wanted to offer this song as an invitation to join the Tribe. 

This is me, no final mix, just soul & love. I appreciate you for walking on this journey with me. The way is just a little bit longer but we"re almost there.

I would Rather Be where you are.

This song is special to me because it was inspired by my best friend. A friendship that has endured disagreements, tears, love and love lost, long distance, parenthood oh and a global pandemic.

The past few years has been a difficult and isolating time for so many. Being separated from the ones we love has been one of the hardest parts of this experience. "Rather Be" is a tribute to that feeling of longing and the deep connection that exists between close friends and family.

For The Family

Take a step into this Haus (House) that we"ve built and see this glorious trophy room of ours. 

Navigating through Web 3 has been an interesting and inspired experience. It is a journey that has altered my life (for the better) in a way that will be with me till the end of my time. Web 3 has created the opportunity to for me to reconnect with old family and build a new one. Every week for the past 7 months I commune with an amazing group of "Aliens" in a space we"ve grown to call home, known as Future Surf Radio. The things we have been able to accomplish together are nothing short of remarkable and I"m grateful to find myself in community with such beautiful collective of people. We laugh, we cry, we sing, we support, we affirm and we create together in Future Surf and most importantly we lead with love. 

"For The Family" is a song I created during our 50th Episode of FSR as an ode to my loved ones and the community we"ve built. This was directly inspired by all of the members and most specifically my good brother, Miles Ryan Harris, who lit the fire under me. To some this may just be really good "raps" but for those who know (IYKYK), this is a reminder of the power of love. There are so many people who have graced the Future Surf space that I wasn"t able to mention or incorporate into the song but know that you forever have my heart.
On days when the weight of the world is crushing me, I know that I have a place to go where I"m loved and embraced and supported. It"s knowing this that keeps me ground and keeps me going.

cazimi originates from the Arabic term for in the heart of the Sun  an enchanted state when a planet is within 1 degree of the Sun.

that night, infinite i setup a pop-up studio on venus st. the production was already a flowing dream, i suggested we add claps & the synth guitars at the end. 

i finished writing honey while in spiritual retreat with my family where the ocean meets the river. honey calls in the renewal of sweetness. may sweetness stick to you and may it cover your words, self-talk, and actions as we remember that sound vibrates as a force.

Love Again

Imagine you could go back and tell your 17-year-old self Im good enough as I am. Imagine what couldve been one of lifes biggest failures turning into triumph.

Many moons ago as a senior in high school I was given the task of completing an exit project, where I would research poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning and one of her works and write about it. My English teacher was very vague with instructions and it left me feeling lost. So I procrastinated. Why? I started reading at a year and a half, I went to gifted and talented schools my whole life, why was this challenging? The me of today (post a late stage ADHD, Anxiety disorder diagnosis) would reach out for clarity and understanding of expectations.

But the me then who knew more than I gave her credit for, turned to music. The one constant, the one bit of clarity even when nothing else fell into place. I thought I knew the person Id love forever and while that is not true- I did know then how profound, forgiving, patient and other worldly love was and still is. 

So I wrote Love Again but never turned in my project OR the song. I just knew it wasnt good enough. I Technically flunked high school. As a result I had to do a semesters worth of English projects in one week to graduate on time. And did.

This recording was created 2years later @ 19 years old. The first song I ever wrote recorded, vocal produced, and co produced with my brother B. Sharpe. I was good enough then. And Im good enough now.

It takes tremendous shadow work, to reach back into the past, and soothe the pain of a younger self. That is the point of life. That is the point of love.

Breaking The Cycle

Releasing this song feels like a necessary detour. I try my best to be as vulnerable as possible in my music but this was something I didnt know how to say even though I knew it was necessary. I am many things. A man, a son, a brother, a friend, a musician. But above all else I am a father. That is my ultimate purpose. To lead by example for my sons. To teach them how to maneuver in a world not inherently designed for them to win. To break the cycle.

My journey throughout Web 3 thus far has been a time of affirmation (shoutout to Scolla.) Its been a time of growth, learning, and healing. Its been a time of not always doing the easiest (or most politically correct) thing, but having faith that it is the right thing as I continue forward.

I feel like Im at the crossroad of stepping into my future and healing from my past, all while remaining present. I am working through my struggles in realtime - through music - and I hope that anyone who reads this understands that I am not defined by my circumstances, and neither are you. This has been a season that I feel is coming to a close. So although I am excited to share this piece of my story with you, I am equally as excited to have you with me as the rest of the story unfolds.

One thing that Web 3 has taught me is to better vocalize my needs. To not be afraid to say that I am not ok, or that I need help because we are not meant to walk alone.

I have been dealing with a traumatic situation involving my children and my family and I am thankful that I have the love and support to be able to say that I need help as I give this offering. I called this a necessary detour because thats exactly how it feels. Like stopping for gas on a road trip. Knowing that this path is meant for me but that I had to take a second to address my needs and decompress before driving again.

So to anyone reading this, thank you for supporting me. Thank you for continuing to uplift me and remind me of my worth in the times when I may forget. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to support my family by doing something I love. And thank you for helping me break the cycle.

What if you could meet your past or future self across space and time. What might you advise, observe, affirm, or say to yourself ?

One truth I would reveal to my past self is: 
you will use your voice and your journal entries will become poems, stories will become speeches, and songs will spring forth into the world to become your legacy. 

Infinite is a dance between my past, present, and future self. If we see more limitlessly we find that time is in fact not short, time is abundant as well, life is the longest dance we will ever know.   

The world is what it is, for better or worse because people shaped it so, that being said, I believe we are in an everlasting cycle of co-creation with the universe. Infinite asks us to get on the dancefloor ( a metaphor for life) and tap in with self and one another to create the world we want to live in and leave behind for future  generations. 

Art imitates life and life imitates art. Dreams are sacred and I believe we dont quit until weve lived each one.

Fresh Air

"Fresh Air" is the freedom and relief that arises when you speak your needs. The same tears and unbearable sadness I was feeling the day I wrote this song led me back to myself, to my core needs. What makes me feel grounded and free. I spent the rest of the day at a festival on the lakefront.

 I"m a fire starter, phoenix, lioness, and alchemist with my head so focused on the victory that I"m learning to allow my heart the space it needs to just shed in the moment. Yes I am strong, but these days I have been leaning into my softness, my gentle era, and yearning for ease. 

When we keep telling ourselves the same stories about love, success, friendship, society, relationships, and one another we can create blockages that bind us to the same endings. I no longer believe that I am asking too much and I know that god, the universe, the earth has already provided so much. We have everything we need. I want everyone who listens to this song to feel like giving and receiving good love is possible. 

The heartbeat of the song is New Orleans Second Line drum meets afrobeat (produced by She is the Future collaborator and native son of New Orleans Infinite Eye) featuring the lyrical and vintage visual art stylings of Old Orleans.
