He moved rapidly from air duct to air duct, silently trying to escape from the top secret research wing of the Dam Corp Co. science facility. His mission had already gone on six months too long because of his accidental capture. To be fair, his intel was a bit out of date and didn"t include the metal detecting cameras, heat sensitive floors or moisture checking air conditioner. Fortunately they had wrapped him in a strange, fabric like material for some of the tests, he knew it would block his temperature and moisture. He already knew he could stay quiet enough if he could just avoid the cameras sensing the bolt from surgeries and an old bullet that couldn"t be removed. Almost free, there was only one more section to get through. It was the shortest section but also the most worrisome. He had been experimented on in every room except that one. The room of no return because none of the other prisoners had ever seen a test subject return. Carefully replacing the gate behind, he silently moving through the ventilation to look through the grate into the lab. Red, IR and Black light flashes started strobing as a piercing shriek bombarded his ear drums and the doors and exits started to lockdown. Thinking someone noticed they were missing, he sprinted into the last lab not realizing the lockdown was signaling the start of the test for the secret lab. Running right into the path of the giant lens focusing the energy, he felt a pulse of electricity hit and searing pain shoot through every nerve in his body. His vision turned black and his stomach lurched. Next thing he remembered is hitting a hard surface that splintered around his eye, then the ground as dirt got under his eyelid, then blissful unconsciousness. Waking to a vast landscape covered in forest he wandered, trying to find anyone in this primordial world. Searching for anything he recognized or anyone to help, he survived and travelled trying to get this critical information to those whom it could help the most.

The new goal of the Oddbacks was to travel in pods to the far reaches of the verse to protect creatures in need, saving those in danger of falling into the shadows. Now the pods are being called to a small, seemingly innocuous planet - drawn by the cries for help of those fighting against the flood. The Oddback Whales are gathering, they are drawing strength, they are mobilizing for one final fight to save the adorable cuboids and push back the rising tide before the darkness covers all.
