Having existed since the beginning, The Great Mirror was the most constant and immovable object in any universe. An object of great power, also just plain nice to look at, it sat observing all around it: for instance, a glowing ball called mana. In many of the universes mana would gather together and float in small orb-like masses. Mana was used for all sorts of different things; as food, something to be worshipped, as mood lighting, and even as a power source. One day The Mirror had been watching a chrysalis for centuries wondering what would emerge. Ions went by and nothing, and The Mirror knew it hadn't made it. Then, as if responding to the mirror's sadness, the mana started to gather on the long dormant pod - accumulating and absorbing into the chrysalis. Suddenly, with a burst of shimmering light and sparkles, a beautiful blue butterfly emerged. A new species has come to be, its purpose; to flutter and bring happiness and second chances to the universe.
