Kerala is home to some of the most beautiful and remarkable art styles in the world. Theyyam, which originated in North Kerala, is a well-known ritual and art form that personifies mythical tales. Theyyam uses mime, dance, music, and dancing to tell tales from the past and transport the audience to another world. There are around 400 distinct forms of Theyyam, each with its unique style, melody, and dance.

It is claimed that the goddess was incarnated to slay the evil spirit Darikan. Artists, dressed in elaborate costumes and extensive makeup, create quite a visual impact on audiences. The dance, together with the decorations and headgear, is so grand and powerful that it inspires feelings of awe, respect, and even dread.
