As the world scramble to make a vaccine to combat the Corona Virus, monkeys have been the key in understanding the immune reaction to the Corona virus. 

 In mid-March, a Chinese macaquestudyoffered some of the first evidence that antibodies from a SARS-CoV-2 infection can provide immunity. Its not clear how long that immunity lasts, andhuman studieshave shown that some people may not develop enough antibodies to provide immunity. 

Still, the findings from monkeys strengthen the case for humanplasma transfusion trials, which are now underway.

It is a known factor that majority of these wonderful animals succumbed to testing and it is an honour to remember that without them, the health workers and vaccine manufacturers would have to resort to using human beings as subjects.
