GrailersDAO is a community of creators, curators, and collectors of some of the most sought-after digital art. Our objective is to support generative artists and the expanding generative art ecosystem including through our periodic curated art releases.

GrailersDAO invites established and emerging generative artists to join the DAO. Artist DAO members get access to a private Discord channel to connect with other artists along with the opportunity to participate and contribute with the broader Grailers community.

Art Blocks x Bright Moments

*923 Empty Rooms* is an artwork about simulation and the history of visual representation and abstraction. Each room is a space to explore.

Each of the 923 unique rooms contains a simulated still life, an arrangement of forms. There are six primary forms, each linked to a city: Sun (Tokyo), Shard (Berlin), Cargo (London), Hive (New York), Pyramid (CDMX), and Moon (Los Angeles). A series of rooms will be minted over the course of a simultaneous, six-day exhibition at galleries in each city.

There are 923 rooms in total to iterate through every possible combination of the six shapes:

1 form = 6 unique combinations
2 forms = 21 unique combinations
3 forms = 56 unique combinations
4 forms = 126 unique combinations
5 forms = 252 unique combinations
6 forms = 462 unique combinations

*923 Empty Rooms* is an evolution of *An Empty Room*, commissioned by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) for the Coded: Art Enters the Computer Age, 19521982 exhibition. *An Empty Room* was installed at LACMA from 9 April to 2 July 2023.

*Color Streams* is a return to my origins both personally and creatively. Simple gradients across color fields with the generative paint texture I love so much. These outputs remind me of simpler times and give me hope for our collective future.

This work seeks to position itself within the surrealist tradition, which has always sought to unlock the power of the unconscious mind to reveal hidden truths about being human. The mind's eye reaches for its own meaning so that perceiving the art is an act of creation. In keeping with the surrealist tradition, Possibility Spaces expresses the idea of welcoming imperfection, embracing glitch as beautiful.

The English language is made up of twenty-six little letters, but there's no limit to the number of possible poems that can be written. Creativity lies in synthesis into creations new, and never imagined.

Possibility Spaces by Look Highward

Art Galleries (Revisited) is the twenty-third realm in Possibility Spaces and is a strange and more minimalistic realm. Populated by people seated on geometric objects in empty space; just waiting; but in a gallery.

The following artwork description was redrafted by an LLM from the output of another ML process; which used a service called SceneXplain; which is a script that can view a complex image and then attempt to describe it in words.

So everything in this description has been discovered by an AI process whilst gazing at the image itself; without any human text input or editing.

heartsleeves: skin by LoVid

heartsleeves is a multifaceted generative video project. Part one is
code-based, abstract video art that then becomes the basis for community
portraits once minted. In this layered generative process, the artists
take advantage of the distributive nature of art on the blockchain to
elevate the community to co-creators who can generate their own portraits
within the environments LoVid has defined.


The work is both a culmination and a departure point for the celebrated
artistic duo, LoVid, weaving together disparate shapes and symbols that
evoke projects from their decades-long career as video and performance
artists. These icons are organized on grids that weave above and below
each other, moving across the screen to form an abstract video fabric.


The live generator will play forever without looping, suggesting an
infinite abstract plane only visible in the square window of the art
object, to be passively observed. The work exploits two unique qualities
of the blockchainthe ability to store code on-chain allowing for the
transmission of this never-ending generative video, and the unique aspect
of verifiable ownership.


The second part of this work is only unlocked by this ownership. Each video
skin becomes an immersive environment in the portrait studio, but only the 
owner can access the specific skin. Opening the portrait studio shifts agency 
away from the artists, as the collector becomes the co-creator.


Through the portrait studio, the portrait sitter is pulled into the video 
environment created by the original code-based generative video. Faces slip 
inside it, get pulled in, and become defined by color woven amongst the shapes 
along the three-dimensional planes of the face. While the studio distorts color 
and projects shapes onto the face, the participant has their own agency in the
portraits color, exposure, zoom, and more predetermined elements.


This opens up a second phase of generative production. The artists leave the
community with instructions and parameters to produce the final stage of
the workvideo portraits created in collaboration with the generative
mechanic the artists predetermined.


The portrait subject transforms from a passive participant into something much
more integral. They are physically present, engaged, and able to directly
influence the final product. This means radical sharing of agency, as collaborative
portraits created away from the artists can be automatically entered into the canon.

little boxes on the hillsides, child by LIA

little boxes on the hillsides, child is a series of abstract suburban cityscapes powered by a program of LIAs own design and development. Over the 25 years of her artistic career, LIA"s working process has typically involved as much intuition as it does engineering skill, and this piece is no exception. Growing from an initial Processing sketch by way of the artist"s careful selection of angles, transparencies, and line weights, a virtually infinite sequence of house-like forms appears and disappears. LIA conceives of her practise as a conversation between her own fluid concepts and the formal precision required of software code; when accidents or bugs appear, they are often treated as a part of this conversation and incorporated into the final work. In this piece the cheeky blue and cheeky red features arise from a bug in calculating the colour spread, and have been retained for their aesthetic contribution to the images. Taking inspiration from the song Little Boxes by Malvina Reynolds, this piece is a contemplation of houses and cities. The cyclical relationship between the construction of homes, the lands and environments they have replaced, and the ecosystems that will eventually replace them is echoed through an infinite production of geometric compositions. little boxes on the hillsides, child is the successor of little boxes on the hillsides, mother, presented in the exhibition Synthetic Imagination at bitforms gallery San Francisco, October 2November 15, 2021. The NFTs minted on Art Blocks are the children of the mother work: brilliantly colourful, they are rendered in stillness as an artifact of the mother program"s generative output, whose ancestry can be activated on the Art Blocks website by pressing the "a" key to reveal the animated process behind the production of the still image.
