Glimmer Of Hope

Lost in her inner thoughts, the weight of her emotions trapped her on a dark path. As she looked into the distance, she caught sight of a ray of light. It was like a beacon of hope in her despair, shining through the darkness that enveloped her. A glimmer of determination stirred within her - an urge to rise above the pain, circumstances, and uncertainty that had weighed her down.  

With tears still fresh on her face, she took a deep breath and steadied herself. The light gave her a moment of relief, a chance to catch her breath and gather her strength. Filled with a renewed sense of significance, love filled her heart. With each breath, she pulled herself together, drawing strength from hope and love. It was fierce, unbreakable love - the kind that conquered even the deepest fears and pains. She rose out of the darkness with renewed faith and a new sense of purpose!

January Blizzard of 2022 in Toronto, Canada, while most would stay home from the storm, we go out in the snowstorm to document the story of mother nature. This blizzard shut down the city, created power outages  and gridlocks, and caused people to be stranded. I couldnt go back to my place because the roads and transit lines were packed with snow. That day it snowed 55cm. It was forecasted to be around 30cm. Through the tough weather, I saw people going to their jobs to make their living. Got to respect the hustle and gotta do what you gotta do at the end of the day. Nature tells us a story with her weather. We try to adapt and be prepared to make it through the tough time. It goes to show that though there might be some rough days, but, eventually it gets better with time.

WINDOWS

What goes on behind the windows of our lives? We often fail to appreciate what others are going through in their personal lives, its all too easy to judge or even be judged. Its important that we slow down and consider what someone may be going through in their own journey before we form our opinions. When shooting the Windows project, I was able to meet and talk with over 70% of the people and families who look out of these windows every day and even I was guilty of making certain assumptions about them. What I found, was the people I met were always very different to my expectations.

About the Artist: Jordan Banks is a travel and documentary photographer from the UK whose career spans more than two decades and has won multiple awards for his work including the National Geographic Cities Photographer of the year. Jordan regularly shoots for top publications such as National Geographic, BBC, Lonely Planet &amp; The Times as well as being the subject of Sky Arts documentaries on his photography that have been syndicated worldwide. Jordan has shot international campaigns for clients such British Airways, Microsoft, Dropbox, Panasonic and many others. Jordan"s work is held in the collections of some of the worlds largest and best-known art collectors in both the traditional and digital worlds. Aside from his work as a photographer Jordan founded the award winning JRNY Magazine in 2020 aimed at empowering and supporting travel creatives.

Each edition is accompanied with a 1/1 from the Windows collage.
