i listened to Graceland every night that summer. i had just turned 16 and could drive on my own for the first time. there was a short backroad near her house where you could drive triple the speed limit without anyone noticing. i picked her up every night after work and we laid on the runway of the abandoned airport at the edge of my town. it was the kind of summer i knew in the moment would stay with me for a long time - i dont think you can ever forget the feeling of falling in love for the first time. 

i"ve been trying to write this song ever since. something that captures the invincibility and innocence of falling for someone - and that naive confidence that no one could ever know them as well as you. last month i drove by the now abandoned runway - i felt all of the anxiety and arrogance from when i was 16 again. i pulled over and wrote the first verse: 

pushing 80 in a 25
talking politics prose and paul simon

gotta grow up before we grow old and
i"m still learning how to hold you tight
i"m 16, sucking my thumb

Sometimes the only way out is through. Civilizations in ruin tell stories of prideful men burning bridges & passing judgment. I inhaled the ashes of the aftermath as visions of the past became clear. A guardian angel descended upon my ancestors, exiling them from the place they called home. A golden blade carved out the foundation of the castle walls and suspended it above the clouds for no man, woman, or child to ever return.

Centuries have passed since then, yet the paradigms remain. At my birth I was given a pendant in the shape of a key by an elderly traveler. My grandmother told me it resembled a legendary sword. I carried it with me for decades never knowing its true power. But the day you and I met, I experienced an awakening; a burning sensation beneath my feet. Warring kingdoms became our thoughts. The battlefield, our conversations. The pen is mightier than the sword but the power of life and death is in the tongue. In truth you were sent to destroy me, but as time passed we found happiness in one another. You returned to your homeland only to be deemed a failure and executed. But love is not blind. It sees you in the dark and chooses to be your light. 

An emotional outburst to the news of your departure created a rift in the earth beneath our feet. From the dust appeared the key of legend. What I believed to be visions, were in fact memories of reincarnation. The guardian angel in human form, cast down from the Eternal Garden to endure pain, suffering, and heartbreak. 

Oh, how much Ive learned. In my agony, I cursed my enemies. I sought out revenge. The trials by which I judged humanity, even I could not conquer. I learned that the heart is fragile, but love is the password to every soul.

So in this life, I use this key, like Cupids arrow  to restore the Earth.

I started Say Youre Mine on a cold winter night in LA a few years ago with some friends. We were chatting and hanging around at a session that was supposed to be wrapping up. I remember sitting on the floor near the little studio heater and listening to Adam, an amazing producer and friend, play the guitar loop. It didnt take long for me to know where I wanted to go with the melody and lyrics. I had been writing a lot of angsty songs around that time and wanted to change the messaging, so I REALLY changed it up and started singing about love and rainbows Check  
But the second I started singing, I thought about my husband. Theres so much that we have been through together and I can feel our connection energetically. As we continued to write I really wanted to hone on the gentle love that is just one part of my intricate and beautiful relationship. A soft side that doesnt rush, is patient, understanding, and sees the light in my lover. This song I dedicate to Scorch. Who will you dedicate it to to?

my 1st collab with reo and the 1st song ever minted on top of a blocktone. i couldnt have imagined something like this in my time but here we are. 

Gino, Stolar and Reo hit me up right around art basel with the idea to have a writing camp in miami where we could write fire songs to blocktones beats. i wanted to make sure that whatever we did, the music was right and we were pushing web3 forward. 

we had so much fun on this one. first, the beat was epic, and getting to make something right off a blocktone that reo owned - that we could do whatever we wanted with - was one of those moments where i really felt the magic of web3. 

the studio in miami was iconic also so the whole thing was inspiring as fxck. reo bodied the track of course. this is def one of my favorite collabs ive ever done. its a blessing to get to work with amazing people and live this life everyday.

new wave is a coming of age, 80s inspired track which dives into the pressures that are faced when transitioning from innocence into a party filled adulthood. it also brings to light the tug of war that substances and alcohol create from within and how eventually one side must win. in this instance, i end the track with a cry for help begging to be taken back into the lifestyle i thrived in as a child before this spiritual warfare began.

My names Camden - Im an alt soul artist originally from a tiny town called Greenville, Illinois.  I never thought music was a practical career, and none of my friends were pursuing it, but eventually the idea of doing anything else felt like being trapped in a cage.  Once I swallowed my fear of failure, I moved to the closest music industry city I could, Nashville. 

Growing up, I always gravitated toward jazz and soul music, but when I went to record, the sound never felt right.  I hadnt discovered my way of doing it yet.  So I focused on writing for other people, and got to explore a lot of different sounds that way.  Later, I went on a songwriting trip to London, and felt like my artist project came to life there.  

Phone Tag is a result of my time in the UK.  R&B/soul melodies placed over futuristic production sets the tone for nostalgic lyrics about love that never happened.
