i made this back in 2019. i had recently turned 21 and i was in the midst of my 5 month long journey around asia. i was staying in Bali and i had just started engaging in mindfulness. it was an interesting time where i was starting to get to know myself better. i was questioning the reasons as to why I do things and what I ultimately want out of life. I guess this is my version of keeping journal entries. 

ULTRA 1 was a form of therapy and it represents me finding ways to express myself through art, which is surprisingly something I rarely did at the time. I was always focused on making the craziest beat possible or what would have the most impact in a club setting. this song will always mark the beginning of me growing up and letting the music document the progress.

Music is a universal language--truly loved by all. Through creating this song, both Morgxn and I were able to find some peace during these tumultuous times.  

The origin story: The introduction actually began at a Halloween party hosted at Charli XCX's home. Fast forward to the pandemic, Morgxn sends me a very special vocal he had written in London just before the lockdown. The message and lyrics resonated so deeply that I had to create a song that truly represented how I felt.

Though the song was written before our society shutdown--it had more meaning during.  This song is about the idea of craving touch that feels euphoric and cathartic. After dealing with 2 years of physical separation from our loved ones, this song is a celebration of togetherness and our love for each other.

Street Fever

Street Fever is an anonymous producer from Boise Idaho. They blend elements of dark techno and percussive atonal sounds to create genre bending music that hits you heavy. They set the mood with their seductive vocals and chaotic live shows that leaves the audience shook. Theyve also been known to sacrifice synthesizers with a baseball bat at the end of every show as apart of a live ritual. They are also know for their stunning visual artwork as well as performance art in galleries that they transform into other worldly pop up venues. They also run a DIY lave called ENCHANE MODE @enchaine_mode and just released their first compilation album from various artists they have crossed paths with. 

This project is motivated by the struggles they have had in their personal life. This entity takes on many forms. Being gender fluid/non-binary, they like to explore different feminine and masculine energies within the music. They take on different forms with different characters that represent the energy they are feeling in the present moment. They have manifested into a god like entity that has surfaced from a sort of rebirth that has taken place in their life. This entity has manifested into the armor they need to help them fight battles within themselves so they can continue to evolve. 

Street Fever gained notoriety from acts like Tommy Cash (IG) @tommycashworld performing their most popular track La Corde during one of his performances at a festival in Russia as he sang and yelled over the track. Theyve also had notable collabs with Dave Parley of (IG) @prayers Shaun Lopez of Crosses 
(IG) @crossesmusic and are currently working with Russian rap/pop star Tatarka (IG) @smelaya_ira

Repent is about forgiveness in a time of chaos not only within this world but within ourselves. This track is a manifestation of the path they have chosen to better themselves in their life. It has moved them into a spiritual, sort of shamanic journey to pull themselves out of the dark and closer to the light. This track is a reminder that there is darkness in all of us and through that darkness we ca find love and light and come together and unify as one. Become what you pray for.

yo! im peter! im an artist from the bay area, now livin in la! i make pop music and try to spread mental health awareness through everything i do! ive been playing guitar since i was 7 and grew up on literally everything from worship music, to classic rock, blues, pop, etc. im heavily inspired by people like john mayer, the 1975, lewis capaldi, and honestly all of my friends. during my senior year of high school i made my first song and put it out for my friends and family to hear. it ended up getting on some pretty cool playlists and hit 100,000 plays on Spotify alone within the first couple months of its release, and it honestly changed my lifethe response i got from the song was just insane i received hundreds of dms from people saying how much the song had affected their life. it wasnt until that song came out, that i had realized how much potential there was to make an impact on youth culture through my music. a few months later though, i had ended up losing my brother in law to suicide in 2018. the last thing he posted on his facebook page was a link to stream my first song. it was an insanely rough time for me, my family, and everyone around me. it broke us. as i kept making music over the years though, ive received thousands and thousands of dms, mostly from random people saying that my music had really helped them. at this point, im still thinking to myself that maybe if i wrote some of these songs earlier--that maybe my brother in law would still be here?  those dms i received, conversations i had, etc. have really put a lot on my heart and a ton of purpose in my soul to continue doing what i"m doing. i truly hope that you can connect with my music and that it can give you an escape to help you build new perspectives. 

this song i am dropping, wishing, is one of the more recent songs ive made. i wrote it about the idea of being in a relationship where BOTH of you are toxic. you"re always breaking up, getting back together, acting like you don"t care when you really do, etc. and for some reason you can"t seem to make the final decision to just walk away and end things. i wrote it in hopes of inspiring you to stop letting yourself stay in pointless situations where you"re constantly hurt, over & over. i hope you stop "wasting your life" away with unnecessary BS whether that be your relationships, your job, etc.

Vic Mensa

I am a multi-disciplinary artist from Chicago; my primary medium is hip-hop music. I was born and raised on the South Side with family roots in Ghana, West Africa. Growing up I was a skateboarder first, a graffiti artist second and a rapper third, music quickly becoming the fabric that tied all poles of my life together and gave me contextual meaning. The ethos of my creativity is truth telling; to share my unique perspective through the various mediums I employ.

The song King Of The Slum was made during my recent stay in Ghana in January. I titled it as such in reference to the slum in which my family resides and my father was born, known as Asokore Zongo in Koforidua. Zongo settlements are largely poverty stricken areas in West African towns comparable in ways to the Black American ghetto, albeit much less resourced. Much of the lyrical content of this song speaks to the juxtaposition of these different sides of my existence. My uncle, who lives in the zongo, is a legendary Ghanian musician named Chief Kofi Sammy of the Okukuseku International Band, and a pioneer of a style of music called High Life. For this record, which I also produced, I took influence from the music of my ancestry while I was physically in my homeland to manipulate some traditional melodic elements within the framework of my own personal style.

The photograph out of which I made the cover is of myself in the Zongo with my nieces and nephews. Despite the extreme poverty experienced where my family lives, there is immense power in culture and spirituality that I have sought to express through my practice in both photography and music.

I"ve always admired that mixtapes are central to how we share our love of music - with our friends, partners and listeners. On the flip side, beat tapes have been the staple of producers since the advent of the reel-to-reel. Combining the two, I set out to do what has never been done in web3: drop a 10 track mix of exclusive unreleased music on Sound.xyz that allows the audience to engage and decide for themselves what comes next.

Hi, Im Karma. Im a musician, music producer and WRLD builder. I"ve been a musician most of my life and a crypto native since 2016. I wrote this song when I was feeling rumination and self-doubt about creating music, my place in the music industry, and what I thought the world was telling me it should be. Like most musicians, my catharsis was the wavs that emerged into this song.

LYFE is a song about the human experience, our relationship with time and what we choose to do with it. Do we waste it? What is wasting it? What is the best way to pass the time? What does dwelling on the past do for us? Should we be dwelling on the past? Is the past just a memory in the present moment? What should we be orienting ourselves towards, in order to create meaning in our lives and the lives of others?

The song represents the stages of life, birth to death (two sides of the same coin) and how our relationship with time makes life worth living. It has a feeling of bittersweet longing. Grasping for something that you never quite get to, similar to the human experience. I wrote this from a personal place, but the collective and the individual are interdependent, so here is my song to the WRLD

SLOE JACK

Yo guys my name is SLOE JACK! Im stoked to be back on Sound for the release of my third single, Renegade. 

"Renegade" is about being cheated on and the way it throws your mind off course. The memory of that humiliating moment lingers in the back of your head. It rings in your ears and it leaves you exhausted. Your ex thinks that what they did was justified, but youre not having it.

When I wrote this song I wanted it to feel ruthless, nasty and in-your-face. Since the theme comes from a place of hurt and rage I aimed to reflect that as well as I could sonically. 

I would like to thank Sound.xyz for giving me this opportunity. This platform is a serious game-changer for artists of all sizes!

Renegade #19

My name is SLOE JACK. Im a nineteen-year-old punk/pop artist from Melbourne, Australia.

My debut track, Number, outlines heartbreak, betrayal and how difficult it can be to trust someone after being stabbed in the back. Meeting people after a bad relationship is basically just red flag hunting, a search for reasons to flee the scene to defend yourself from previous traumas. When I wrote this song I wanted the lyrics to be blatant and honest. Were talking about straight-up relationship anxiety here, so why not lay it out bare.

All I used to listen to as a kid was dubstep. As a result of listening to straight square waves for my entire childhood, I have an instinctual and inhuman urge to distort every sound I throw at my track, no matter the genre. People ask me, how do I achieve the SLOE JACK sound? All you gotta do is disregard all production standards and get weird.

Big thanks to the Sound team for giving me this opportunity and to Dreams Never Die for releasing my debut track! I feel so fortunate to be involved in the first season of Sound and I will never forget this moment.

Ruby Red

The story of this song starts over a year ago now, on the day that the sky turned dark red in the Bay Area.

Thanks to smoke from nearby wildfires, our beautiful home had been converted into a hellscape overnight. It was definitely surreal, but oddly bittersweet as well, as it kind of forced us to reminisce about the world we saw ending all around us. 

Whenever were forced to acknowledge that some phase of our life is ending (whether it be school, a job, or the f*cking world), its hard to not think about all the things we wish wed done differently. Too Late is what happens when you let yourself get swept up in that nostalgiaits that one last futile transmission into the vacuum.

For this song, we drew a lot of inspiration from anthemic pop songs, pulling melodies and rhythms that feel good and contrast well with the melancholic lyrics. 

Too Late has already brought us so much love and joy; we hope it can do the same for you <3

Hi, Im msft, Italian bass music producer and web3 enthusiast. My Sound debut will be with my song Take / Back.
This song represents somehow a shift in my production workflow towards a groovier/drums-oriented approach. After releasing my EP in January which got completely sold on Catalog as well, I wanted to dive deeper into my production techniques, finding new ways to implement my skills and eventually become a better producer.
Ive been inspired by my peers in music, especially camoufly whos one of my best friends, a source of self-challenge and, of course, motivation. He made me start my web3 career months ago and he always pushed me to make whatever I want, constantly encouraging me to be and feel artistically free.
