Exhibition

Prepare a rectangular or square canvas. Pick one or two sets of pigments. Plot one or two fields of slightly irregular dots, with one layer for each pigment. Offset each layer slightly, horizontally or vertically. Apply a level of randomness to the placement of each dot so that pigments in lower layers can obscure pigments in higher layers. Optionally, divide and displace the randomness in rectangular patches.

Feral File  Chain Reaction

Sara Ludys Synchronicities plays with the idea of a collective psychic and visual space, and explores the aesthetics and materials of ephemerality. Collectors are invited to pick from a list of 100 time codes to mint an NFT corresponding to a clip from a 24-hour video shot by the artist, without having seen the video clip itself. The act of collecting, usually tied to an aesthetic choice, is thereby linked to a moment that intuitively resonates with collectors from afar, becoming a remote viewing exercise. As the time codes are minted, the matching video clips are positioned chronologically on a 4x6 grid corresponding to the 24 hours of the video, forming a structure resembling a multi-dimensional cube and viewable on a website. Collecting and minting the video clips thereby becomes a process of collectively revealing the unseen. The full-length video recorded by the artist over the course of 24 hours is a still-life scene subtly changing over time and involving appearing and disappearing ephemera in a cube-like environment. In Ludys project, synchronicity emerges on various levels: as an alignment of ephemeral objects over the time frame of a day and of transient moments imagined by collectors, as well as a temporal and visual space collectively constructed by a group of collectors.

Just like light and shadow are elusive in our everyday life, so is every move of a human being - elusive, fleeting and irretrievable.

This is the first piece from a new branch in a long on-going series of works, oscillating around (if you pardon the pun) the theme of "Waves" - from ocean waves, to sound waves, to quantum field waves, to social & political waves, ... and now to waves in the crust of the Earth, slow motion waves on geological timescales, mountains.  
The work was created using a number of different AI (Artificial Intelligence) techniques. 

Personal note:  
In a tragic foreshadowing, I made this work before the devastating earthquake on February 6th 2023 in Turkey, my home country, and Syria. 100% of all of my primary sales will be donated to rescue and care efforts.

Yoshi Sodeoka explores a multitude of media and platforms which comprises video, gifs, and print. His neo-psychedelic style stems from his love of and background in music. Noise, punk, and metal all influenced his development of complex, mind-altering visuals. His practice involved the use of digital video feedback, footage samples and online imagery, and his videos audio soundscapes are often the result of intense collaborative work. Sodeokas work has been exhibited internationally, including at Centre Pompidou, Tate Britain, the Museum of Modern Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Deitch Projects, La Gat lyrique, the Museum of Moving Image, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and Laforet Museum Harajuku. His artworks are in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of the Moving Image as well as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
