I initially went to therapy for anxiety but quickly discovered it was more than just that.

Being present for people has always been a part of my DNA.  Growing up in a big family gently trained my heart to be intentional with those I love and just people in general. My grandfather was a kind soul and I always remember him teaching me and my cousins during the summers we spent together to watch out for one another. To protect one another. And to check on one another.

I remember at young age my mother walking by my room, peeking her head in and saying, Hey son, what are you doing? Are you okay? And in turn as I got older and matured, I would do the same to herevery so often asking her what she was doing and making sure her heart and mind were settled. And if not, she was very open with me about it.

And so, as the years have gone by, I do my best to echo that gesture to others. My family, my friends, and even some just people I know. Randomly, consistently, and genuinely checking in. However, Ive also come to learn over the years that not all people have the habit of checking on their friends built into their DNA.

Being the strong friend of my circle and influencer of other friend circles also gives me the reasonability to share and spread that sentiment that we should really take time to check on our friends. Because after spending so much time consistently, intentionally, and genuinely checking in on peopleI suddenly realized I needed some of those same people to check on me.

I moved to Los Angeles in January of 2020. I had just finished up classes at Boston University and proceeded to take the biggest leap of faith in my life and move across the country to pursue a career in music. Up until March of that year things were going pretty well: I got some of my first mix clients, started doing my first sessions, and met some new friends along the way. Then the world fell apart and I had to move back to my parents basement in Louisville, Kentucky. For the first time I started to question my decisions. How can I make a living off music? I love doing it but how can I have a sustainable career?

After a few months of sitting in the basement in Kentucky I decided to book a one way ticket back to LA in early May. Still in the height of the pandemic, I figured that if I could be scrappy I could formulate some sort of a viable career off of my music. And if I could do it during a pandemic, I could definitely have an easier time when the world returned to some semblance of normalcy. Between mixing clients, production lessons, and taking some production fees here and there, I managed to do this for almost a year.

Then in April of 2021 I played a show in a friends backyard and invited a bunch of A&Rs and music industry people to swing by. Over the course of the next few months I got on the phone with major labels and one of the reoccurring themes I heard was that it wasnt just about the music in todays industry - I had to have the full package. I was told that I had to have a way bigger social media presence, that I needed to blow up on Tik Tok, that what I was doing wasnt enough, even if the music was there.

Hearing a bunch of voices pulling me in different directions made it seem like I had to focus on everything but the music, and that became incredibly toxic - especially to me as someone who has built meaning in life around making songs. 

Overstimulated is a project that comments on my personal journey and its overwhelming nature. When life gets hectic, my primary coping mechanism is to lock myself in a room and work it out with music. Sometimes I dont really know how to communicate, so I suppose this project is my way of sharing that experience with the world.

We are the Bored Brothers. A fully animated NFT-based recording artist project developed and executive produced by Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) and KYGO. As avid NFT / Web3 enthusiasts, we conceived the idea of auditioning some of our Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) apes to form an animated, multi-genre duo based primarily in dance and hip-hop. I always thought I knew how to go about loving something, whether it was a person, a thing, an experience or myself. Time and time again, I am shown that that love is not what I was taught or know it to be. 

I am always thankful for any moment that shows me just how little I know, especially when it comes to the things I have always believed to be true. In my brief time away, I have had many of those moments, and that"s where this song comes from. A special person, a tough situation, the feelings of love, pain, loss and gain all combined into a beautiful and heavy moment.

This is about knowing that what you want is to love, but never being able to get it right.

Free Love

Free Love is my attempt to (sonically) open up the hearts of the world. its a love bomb if you will.  we arent just captives to the power that be.  Art, especially music, is extremely powerful and should be treated as so. 

The song has little to do with the original meaning of the phrase, or just me saying go fuck everybody.  its an invitation to feel the ever present frequency of love. ive been feeling the need to remind myself and others that love reigns supreme - we often get comfortable with the ill ways of the world and accept them. 

while working on this song, I was around a bunch of older musician guys (well vetted producers/session players known well in the la music scene). They talked about the hippy/60s era - which kind of turned to shit.  and they loved the track but were saying free love man? weve tried that. I wanted to repurpose the phrase and bring new context (instead of people rolling around in mud).  

The world is in a dark place with human rights, threats of war, confusion, etc. to me it could use a dose of positive energy.
