REFLECTIONS OF INDIA by Andre Wagner

India is like a mirror on the world reflecting the deepest thoughts of people who go there. Andr Wagners journey into India is a journey into ones own self. As a photographic artist, he is making this voyage to see and, in return, he himself is also seen through this book. As Jiddu Krishnamurti said: The observer becomes the observed ...In the world today, engulfed in economic crisis, it is an appropriate moment to take a step back, sit down and look at India with fresh eyes. It is considered to be one of the largest markets and most rapidly growing economies among the fastest developing nations in the world  a land of computers and consumers. India is what it is today and what it will be tomorrow because of the spirituality and the tolerance of its ordinary people. Andr Wagner gives us the opportunity to explore this facet of life in India. These quiet images of India display a stark reality that most travelers miss in their rush through this country, a country that is the size of Europe and culturally at least as diverse. Andr Wagners Reflections of India is a beautiful collection of tranquil moments in the utter chaos of daily life, and these moments give us deep insights into the strength of India. It is only possible to feel peace and happiness outside if you have that inside of you. Photography is an art that is quite different in that it only captures what is present in front of your eye  reality as seen by an instrument. However, it is the mind behind the camera that gives us another dimension to reality. Andrs well trained eye, young and fresh, explores India with sensitivity and respect, and opens doors into the ancient and complex Indian landscape. 

Andr Wagner grew up in the former GDR and lives and works in Berlin / Germany. (He finished his training as a photographer in 2001.) In the early 2000s, Wagner began making photographs that are a fascinating mix of landscape photography and performance. He is virtuosic with his camera and explores the possibilities of light situations. His painterly-poetic photographs are created through long exposures and the use of various light sources. Following in the tradition of Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, his persistent attention to the psychological implications of the artistic process in relation to image making makes his images objects of contemplation. His subjects range from intimate still lifes to (urban) landscapes to portraits, and often make explicit reference to his engagement with political issues. Through the detailed staging of his photographs, he creates authentic images that are not digitally manipulated. Andr Wagner has received several awards for his work. His works are represented in private and public collections. Since the late 1990s, his work has been exhibited in Germany and internationally in galleries, museums, alternative art institutions and in public spaces.

120 exclusive vintage celebrity photographs, taken by Jean-Claude Deutsch between 60s and early 90s. Each of the 120 photographs are 1/1s, exclusive to Focus Bloc, of the 25 curated iconic actors, singers and fashion designers present in our first drop. FocusBloc and ParisMatch have collaborated to grant the exclusive NFT rights for each minters/holders.

Ichi-go Ichi-e | 

 translates to "One time, one meeting"; but in Japanese ZEN Buddhism it"s interpreted as "For this time only".  
 
This refers to the practice of treasuring the unrepeatable nature of a moment.  
By achieving this practice, the moment remains sealed in our memories since not the future nor the past can change it.

I use reflections to create a juxtaposition that blends two worlds recontextualizing the entire scene.  
The lights on both sides of the glass create a grid that frames the subject in a world where she appears to be surrounded by others; but thanks to the strong contrast in color temperature between her and the remaining elements theres a hint about an explicit separation, suggesting an introspective journey.

PIONEER GRAILS - ANDROMEDA

ANDROMEDA by Heinrich Heidersberger is released as part of PIONEER GRAILS on the occasion of the exhibition THE THINKING MACHINE. PRESENTING PIONEERS, 1953-2023 at EXPANDED.ART in Berlin. In collaboration with ELEMENTUM.ART, curated by Anika Meier and Georg Bak. 

Heinrich Heidersberger"s black and white RHYTHMOGRAMS were created between 1953 and 1965 as design elements for a mural in a technical college. He developed the rhythmograms from simpler to increasingly complex, almost deconstructivist forms, some of which were created using photographic techniques such as reversal and solarization. Color was the next logical step. The archive contained colored foils measuring 6 x 6 cm, which Heidersberger assembled into five colored rhythmograms between 1960 and 1970. 

Finally, in 1973, Heidersberger screen-printed two color RHYTHMOGRAM posters (ANDROMEDA and ENERGY) in black-light active neon colors that were marketed internationally and were particularly successful in London.

Heidersberger also received recognition from artistic circles for his topicality. Jean Cocteau, for example, was impressed by the relevance of his work. It was very early on that the Frenchman bought a RYTHMOGRAM as a birthday present for Picasso.

As Heidersberger decided to pursue the art of photography in Paris at the end of the 1920s, more by accident and as a result of his insatiable curiosity than anything else, photographers were still known as lensmen, a name that really seemed to fit Heidersberger.

FUTURE PASTS, PAST FUTURES by Margaret Murphy embraces the absurdity of AI text-to-image outputs to make sense of our pasts as teens, while simultaneously hypothesizing adolescence in the future, featuring adolescent tropes with loving nostalgia. When visualized with the imperfection of AI, cultural adolescent tropes of such as prom, joyrides, house parties, summers pool-side, family vacations, and skate parks feel almost like last night"s dream. As time passes and memories fade, technology simultaneously helps us remember (and forget) our pasts, leading us to wonder about the adolescents of the future.

FUTURE PASTS, PAST FUTURES is part of the exhibition RECOLLECTION. AI AND MEMORY presented by EXPANDED.ART in collaboration with The NFT Gallery at their galleries in New York and London, 11 April  13 May 2023.

19 artists explore the idea of further challenging the concreteness of human memorypersonal or collectivethrough creative collaboration with AI. 

Memories are nebulous. Scientific studies and phenomena such as "The Mandela Effect" have shown that humans rarely recall things in their unbiased exactitude. Artificial Intelligence already assists human memory in the form of predictive text and GPS navigation. One would surmise that there exists a role for AI when it comes to supplementing even more complex memory.
