*Life and Love and Nothing is released as part of reGEN, a special charitable auction of generative art to raise funds for Cure Alzheimers Fund, curated by Alex Estorick and Foteini Valeonti in collaboration with The Giving Block.*

This is an illustration of a wildfire burning through a cabin and the surrounding hillside, rendered stylistically with pen and paper in mind. 

Once a year, the fire will ignite and burn until the cabin and the hillside are consumed. After burning, the cabin and the hillside will regenerate, and the cycle will start again.

The cabin represents a person, and the surrounding hillside their mind and memories.

The fire represents disease, burning through the persons memories from the most recent and least established, through to the oldest and most ingrained.

My hope is that this can illustrate both the pain caused by disease and the beauty of the time we have to hold onto memories and loved ones.

Life is short, bodies degrade, houses burn. But, before that, there is life; there is love; there is creation  these things are beautiful.

Consider where you are placing your efforts.
Pursue what is important.
Take the time to see someone you love.
Take the time to do something you love.

Theres only so much time.

The Idea Becomes A Machine is a conceptual art project which explores art works as instructions using the medium of text prompt based AI image generation. The piece assembles a narrative from text prompts and generated images. The work references the wall drawings, structures and seminal essay Paragraphs on Conceptual Art by American conceptual artist Sol LeWitt and juxtaposes them with tropes from science fiction including autonomous robots and a super intelligent AI which sends information into the past from the deep future.

A first-of-its-kind space of co-creation between the Brazilian Indigenous Yawanawa community and media artist Refik Anadol.

Launching this historical collaboration, the Yawanawa community and Refik Anadol Studio have co-authored the Genesis collection 'Winds of Yawanawa'. The collection of 1000 unique Data Paintings brings the nuances of Yawanawa art to the digital world with the aim of preserving the communitys rich culture.

First and only official collaborative wallet of Refik Anadol, with Instituto Nixiwaka; representing the Yawanawa communities of Aldeia Sagrada and Nova Esperana.

Winds of Yawanawa is a collection of 1000 unique Data Paintings that harness weather data from the tribes village in the Amazon rainforest including wind speed, gusts, direction and temperature. This data then merges with the works of young Yawanawa artists, resulting in a mesmerizing play of traditional shapes and colors of data pigmentation.

The Winds of Yawanawa collection will bring the nuances of Yawanawa art to the digital world with the aim of preserving their rich culture.

Gumbo by Mathias Isaksen

**Gumbo** is, as its name suggests, about simple ingredients coming together, emerging into a stew greater than the sum of its parts.

Early in the development, mindful of my tendency to overengineer, I decided to work under a set of constraints:

1. Approach any problem from a position of complete ignorance and try to find the simplest way to solve it.
2. Make the most with as little as possible and avoid introducing complexity unless absolutely necessary.
3. Accept that intuition often falls short in predicting the best way forward (*especially* when creating generative art), and entertain any idea that presents itself.

Staying mostly within the confines set by these rules, the development of Gumbo ended up taking me on many unexpected journeys.

At its core, Gumbo explores the diversity of form that can be achieved by combining simple shapes, such as spheres, donuts, boxes, and cylinders. Despite the basic components, the final arrangements are strangely familiar, some reminiscent of space stations, others of internal organs. By painting these structural canvases in an indiscriminate fashion, an intricate interplay between colour and form arises, emphasizing the spatial nature that underlies both. Texture, a subject I deeply appreciate, stars as the main character of Gumbo, celebrated both as a reference to the material world, and, especially, as something with uniquely digital characteristics. Present throughout the project, it is primarily used to illuminate the structures and add life to otherwise flat blocks of colour.

While working on Gumbo, I"ve found inspiration from a diverse set of sources, ranging from the vibrant and captivating colours of Cold War-era propaganda posters and Japanese ukiyo-e to the texture-heavy work of artists like Virgil Finlay and Bruce Conner. In addition, Gumbo utilises a rendering approach that can be described as a digital equivalent of physical methods like silkscreen and woodblock printing, a connection that was not recognised until the project"s later stages.
