Alone in a Crowd

Bulbasaur 9 series on Async Art is a collaboration between Hulki Okan Tabak and Bulbasaur 9 as a father - son team. Unless extra information is given, all drawings are by B9 and editing is by HoT.

This series is a result of library search by the duo. Some of the works were previously minted and burned afterwards. Some of them are minted for the first time. The series runs through 7 sets of 4 artworks, 1 HoT influenced special collaboration and 1 set titled Falling into the Tree. 

Due to the programmable nature of Async Art's canvas which enables multiple artworks to coalesce into one, this platform was chosen for minting.

Colorful Stage Lights

Humankind seeks affection. I have wondered many a time whether it is to love or to be loved that matters. There is a profound rabbit hole on that topic but Cuddle is more basic, more innocent, gullible even, modestly carnal, mostly emotional.

Cuddle's front layer is an abstraction from a segment of a project. That piece has been re-created in my imaginary depiction of two people hugging, holding, cuddling each other in the most basic confines of line-art abstraction.

Behind the Cuddle runs a gamut of photographs for different times of the day as Async Art's engine throttles through the incessant 24 hour interval of our lives. Sunrise hits with a garden shot of flowers in the morning from 2020. Day invigorated with an image from 25 years ago of a sun casting shadows through shutters. Sunset is a stylization of a female figure from a 1990 photograph that went through an extensive 2021 Photoshop session. Night uses a public domain photo in a subtle abstract yet attractive manner.

All through the cuddle remains the constant. Our need to express and to be heard and to be cared and to care. For most of the healthy ones at least..

Magic Man lived a long time ago in a place far far away.

Magic Man wore a hat that housed his powers. Never took it off for fear of losing it.

When he got too old to perform magic, Magic Man left his home in search of an apprentice.

During his travels, Magic Man encountered a world unknown to him. He loved and loathed what he saw. He desired and cried incessantly. His emotions were mixed, his magic wat patchy, his hat was ragged.

I've met him during his travels. It was by the inn on the High Steppes that he was so tired that he fell asleep on foot when he stumbled in. I helped the keep carry him to a room that was to be his last. 

The stories I heard from him changed my life. The brief encounter was so brief and deep at the same time that I lack words to describe it. His last words I shall take to my grave. His wishes are my wishes now. His travels were not in vain.

The Great War, history, politics, art, posters and propaganda are topics of interest for me. It was kind of natural that I wanted to incorporate that in my cryptoart creations. The desire led to a selection of public domain pieces out of copyright from the Library of Congress archives. I created all sorts of derivative pacifist and tongue-in-cheek works. So far I have only minted a handful on KnownOrigin. Starting September 2021, I will mint a more comprehensive set on Async Art and KO depending on the nature of the final artwork. The artwork presented here is part of that World War I Posters set.

Part of a series of Marylebone, London based artworks. All of these works consist of photographs taken by me in January 2020. It is the time of Lunar New Year, Wuhan lockdowns, and the very first signs of the virus in Europe.

Marylebone was originally an Ancient Parish formed to serve the manors (landholdings) of Lileston (in the west - which gives its name to modern Lisson Grove) and Tyburn in the east. The parish is likely to have been in place since at least the twelfth century and will have used the boundaries of the pre-existing manors. The boundaries of the parish were consistent from the late twelfth century to the creation of the Metropolitan Borough which succeeded it. (Wikipedia)

Relief with Purpose

2 artworks based on World War I propaganda posters from the US. Relief is the sister piece to From The Plain People on Async Art. It is a piece derived from the same working material I've used in the KnownOrigin mints titled Belgian Relief Uncle Sam Arrives and Belgian Relief On the Ground. Relief with Purpose takes the same material and further glitches and complicates the situation on one larger canvas. It is the darker starker and also more experimental offshoot of this sub-heading in the greater World War I posters series.
