Story behind the photo:

Every morning when you wake up in the wild and set up for safari, you wish and dream for a sunrise that brings that magical golden light which touches the surface and warms the earth. This morning we got very lucky. Before sunrise, we were on our way to a lion sighting. But a few moments before the sun rose above the horizon, we passed by a mother giraffe and her calf. We definitely could not let that golden opportunity go. The male lion had to wait. We positioned the car, so that we would have the giraffes silhouettes in front of the now appearing big sun. And so this dream shot came to life.

Beautiful sunsets need a cloudy sky - Paulo Coelho

Story behind the photo:

We spent a whole cloudy afternoon with a cheetah mother and her three sub adult cubs. Half an hour before the sun set, the four cheetahs filled their bellies on a gazelle that the mother had previously hunted with great difficulty. So after the feast, the cheetahs became lazy and difficult to photograph with light that got darker every minute now - as the sun was setting behind the clouds. But slowly some clouds moved away and a gap opened up in the background. At the same time, a group of giraffes moved about 500 meters away from us. So we took the risk, left the cheetahs and drove to the group of giraffes. We tried to position ourselves so that the giraffes would be right between us and the sun as it shone through between the clouds. And we got very lucky. At the right time a giraffe walked perfectly timed in front of the big setting sun.

I"m a French professional photographer living in the Westfjords of Iceland, the most remote region of the country. During the last 10 years, I"ve been involved in scientific studies conducted by the Nature institute of Iceland and have extensively documented the harsh life of the Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) in Iceland.  

"Surviving" is a portrait of a blue morph Arctic fox taken in July 2021. The strength of the fox"s gaze emphasizes the animal"s determination and the resilience needed to survive in such a harsh environment. 

All proceeds of this open edition will be added to the fund I created to publish a book about Arctic foxes and help spreading awareness about their conservation.

This open edition marks the end of a special year and sums up 2022 for me. My NFT journey officially began with a photograph of a solo cheetah in May 2022 and the year now ends with two young cheetahs moving forward together. The year, like many of ours, has been filled with highs and lows. Despite this, when looking back I think of the following:

Friends have been made

Opportunities have appeared

New skills have been learned

Creativity has blossomed

Resilience has been built

Confidence has grown

Patience has been developed

This photograph of two young cheetahs on the move at dusk was captured in August 2020 in the grasslands of the Little Karoo, South Africa.

A New Day

1 Year Anniversary Mint

I had been bullied my entire childhood. My friends made fun of everything from how I looked to how I moved my eyes or smiled etc. The bullying was also physical. I got kicked, punched, and that drove me to depression and hate myself.

In all these turmoils, photography was my saviour. It was my guiding light in the dark. It was the only thing I was truly proud of because it was my deepest secret. It was the only thing I felt I was good at, and I never got bullied for it.

Had I never found photography, I would not be where I am today.

During my photography journey, shortly after four years, I found NFTs, and since then, many things have changed. I had never sold my art before, but I knew with NFTs and Web3,  I would succeed. It took me nine months to get my first sale. That brings us to today. To this day, I have sold out all of my 1/1s and a big edition.

This photo right here shows my passion for photography and making art. The night I took this photograph, I remember my app forecasted it was between a 2% and 3% chance of seeing the Auroras. I waited for 50 minutes to see Northern Lights at a particular position in the sky and got my first shot (a combination of many). After 20 minutes, I got the last image. However, I waited for more hours to try my luck for an easier Photoshop combination, but in vain.

This is what I love; Making art, having adventures, doing things against the odds, just being in nature, capturing the beauty of it, enjoying the sound of the wind, the sound of the waves, staring at the stars and dreaming big.

However, the path to big dreams feels lonely at times. I have spent a lot of time alone in my life, and I enjoy it. But I had always wished to be around like-minded people. Thats where the Web 3 community steps in.

We are all a little crazy to the outside world, but were proud of ourselves and were there for each other. We celebrate ups and downs together and get back up together. Never have I seen a community like this before.

This community has changed my life, and the support Ive got from fellow artists, collectors and friends since I started in this space in January/February 2021, when I entered the space for the first time, is incredible.

This piece is my gift to you. You have changed my life, and I"m so grateful to be able to have friends like you, and a community like this around me.

Lets all continue being a little crazy.

Male lions might be called king of the jungle or savannah but lets be honest: Female lions are the real leaders, heart, and soul of every pride and therefore actually dominate the savannah. They are responsible for hunting, protecting the pride, and raising the cubs. In this photo are three of many females of the Topi Pride. At that particular moment, the whole pride was moving from the open savannah to the bushes to protect the 15 cubs from any danger and to get some shade before the midday heat arrived.
