This will be a limited edition photo, I wanted to give back so this is for the community.

The community took me in with open arms in 2021 while I was in one of my worst states mentality.  
Dealing with depression as well other issues they listened, understood and never judged me and for that I am very grateful.

1nterga1act1c is my visual interpretation of what happens during Marfa lights. The vessel is dropping intergalactic magic visualizations from above for all to view. The background displays our interconnected on-chain transactions.

Yosemite Through The Seasons

A significant overnight snow storm left the valley floor blanketed in white gold. Getting to this viewpoint was tricky; having to tread through several feet of snow but being out here alone in the solitude of nature was well worth the effort. The calm Merced reflected a mirror image of the sunlit Three Brothers playing peek-a-boo between the low fog and high clouds. One of the most serene mornings Ive ever spent in Yosemite.

Winter Wonderland

A 30 second exposure capturing the car trails driving along the valley floor and the pre-dawn colors in the sky. Smoke from controlled burns produced a hazy ambiance as Bridalveil Fall flowed majestically. The unique take on a popular viewpoint was unforgiving with a steep drop off but being able to capture the parks most iconic formations in a single photo is second to none.

Slow Drag

Fall is a magical time in Yosemite with the variety of colors scattered throughout the valley floor. It is also the perfect season to capture reflections in the calm Merced River. As the sun peaked above the massive granite walls, it provided luminous backlight on the lemon lime foliage standing along the rivers edge.

Iridescent

Nature can often times produce the best frame for a subject. I walked around Valley View in the pre-dawn hours looking for something unique. As I walked down the dirt path, I stumbled upon this view of Bridalveil Fall framed in the spring foliage. I setup my composition and waited for the sun to rise, and snapped this as it peaked over the valley floor providing golden backlight onto the scene.

Foliage Framing

A magical morning above the fog in Yosemite. Spring 2023 was a record snow pack year and the waterfalls in the park were raging. I walked out to this amazing viewpoint of Bridalveil Fall pouring into the valley below as the cloud inversion swept through the tree line. A slower shutter speed helped produce an ethereal feel to the waterfall. A sunrise I will never forget.

The opening of OUE Skyspace LA was short lived and the highest observation deck in Los Angeles was closed shortly before the pandemic. This photo was taken on opening night as they celebrated with fireworks from the top of the US Bank tower. 

The still photo turned into an animated loop provides a reminder of the only time the city has ever shot off fireworks from the top of this skyscraper. The composition of the 110 freeway leading towards downtown and Dodger Stadium remains a classic vantage point. The animated car trails heading into the city pair nicely with the fireworks above.


Party On LA

The most beautiful cloud inversion Ive had the pleasure to witness in Yosemite National Park. After driving through the night and photographing Yosemite Valley by moonlight through dawn, this was the sunrise I was treated to. As the sun broke free from the clouds, it radiated warm light onto the low fog hovering over the valley floor like golden waves. El Capitan emerged from behind its veil and Bridalveil Fall dumped a heavy pour into the mist. Evergreen treetops poked out through the fog as ebbed and flowed in a hypnotic trance. A moment of peaceful serenity humbled by the beauty of Mother Nature.

Ascension

In 2019, I visited Norway for the first time with my dad when I was 16 years old. It was my first photography trip abroad.

I couldn"t wait to shoot during the midnight sun and I had tons of different spots in my mind.

Lofoten is known for many things - one of them being the ever changing weather. The forecast for this one certain night wasn"t looking that promising. It predicted heavy rain.

After some time, we started seeing the rain in the horizon - but on the other direction - it wasn"t raining - so we headed there.

Surprisingly - the conditions were fantastic on this beach. There were a lot of people - especially considering it was over midnight by now.

Everyone had come to witness this beautiful sun during midnight - cant call it sunset or rise. :D

It was fun seeing people gather up and take this beautiful moment in together. It was like none of us actually believed this could be happening.

I knew I wanted to come to this spot, which had this rock and a pool that looked like a Dragons eye. I had dreamt of photographing this for years. 

But I thought it"d be occupied with photographers... but there was nobody. Heck, I thought I could find it easily just by seeing where most people are at.

I guess this wasn"t as popular spot as I had imagined. Other photographers were on different spots - very far away from me.

The spot is very hard to find amongst the huge rocky beach. There was no sign of course that hey its here!! I was nervous would I get into the spot whilst we had the gorgeous light.

I was struggling to find the spot - and even asked a fellow photographer for help for the first time in English - I was super nervous but he understood me - but he had no idea what spot I was meaning - but eventually, I found it myself - in time.

I put my wellies on - and went into the water pool carefully which was quite similar to the pool in the photograph, trying not to slip - once I nearly did.

I was standing there with my tripod, filters and the camera. Just me, nature, and this dragon. :D My dad had dropped me off whilst he went to look for a parking place. Hed soon arrive with me. would soon arrive there with me.

The conditions were perfect - the best conditions we ended up getting during this whole trip. And on that night - it was supposed to be the worst conditions of the trip.

Photographing this wasnt the easiest thing in the world as (1) you had to be careful not to slip, (2) you had to own certain filters in order to get the shot which otherwise wouldnt be possible, (3) I was shooting into the sun and one could easily get sun flares into the image.

Why did I make this piece you might wonder? I wanted to showcase this rare kind of sight in nature to the world - and to my own audience overall. I wanted to make my own interpretation of the shot. 

And I found it funny how the pool in the foreground looks like a dragons eye lol.

After some time, couple other photographers arrived - thankfully I had got the shot before their arrival and then I moved away to give them a chance to make their own interpretation of the scene in front of them.

For the rest of the time, I just admired the scene until my dad said Hugo, its over 3 AM - we have a long way back - we should go. :D

We had booked a place in Svolvr, which wasnt super close to the spots I wanted to visit - around an 1-2.5h drive away.

After arriving home, we had driven over 4100km/2547 miles. It took us 15h one way to drive from my hometown Kuopio, Finland to Svolvr, and of course 15h back.

This trip to Norway remains one of the dearest memories to me. And this shot - always brings me back to the adventures and laughs I had there with my dad.

If you look closely, you will see the climber taking a step between two steep rock needles. His friend already made the step and helps him to overcome the obstacle. A step of faith. Side by side, they navigate challenges, their bond unbreakable.

STAR SNATCHERS

In the summer of 2019, I embarked on a journey to hike to the summit of Kawah Ijen volcano. The climb was steep and challenging, with the hot, humid air weighing heavy on my lungs. But as I ascended higher, the view became increasingly breathtaking.

As I approached the crater rim, my attention was caught by something unexpected. There, lining the edge of the crater, were burnt wood skeletons. The charred branches formed a fence of sorts, twisted and contorted by the intense heat and force of the volcano. The sight was eerie yet captivating, a reminder of the power and unpredictability of nature.

But it was the way the branches seemed to reach towards the stars that truly caught my attention. As I looked closer, I couldn"t help but see the burnt wood skeletons as long arms, stretching up to grasp the celestial bodies above. The stars sparkled in the night sky, casting a soft light over the ashen remains.

The image stayed with me as I made my way back down the mountain. The burnt wood skeletons and the stars seemed to blend together, a testament to the raw beauty and power of nature. It was a reminder that life can be both fragile and enduring, and that we must appreciate every moment of its wonder.

Los Angeles

The Hollywood Bowl is a popular overlook to get a view of downtown LA, Hollywood and the 101 freeway. Usually when low fog rolls in from the coast, this vantage point is too low and also gets fogged in. However on this perfect morning, the fog pushed out towards the city leaving the foreground freeway clear. A fast shutter speed was used to freeze the cars on the freeway which help provide scale in reference to the towering skyscrapers.
