PARADE was my second release this year. It talks about personal growth and the desire to leave your old life behind. It describes the feeling of betrayal you experience when dealing with snakes in the grass, exes and old friends appear out of nowhere at the sight of success.

ACTOR

In ACTOR, I touch on my childhood trauma and lifelong effort to recover from it all. I wanted to make this one super bass-heavy to represent how fed I felt when I wrote it. This one goes out to the actor who never gave him a chance to live.

too hot outside is single 5/8 of our upcoming album, coming out later this year!

a lil background on the song:
too hot is actually 5 yrs old. the initial idea was originally made back in 2018 when we started the cudos project. so you could say it"s collected some dust over the years. the reason being, we loved the idea so much + got great feedback from friends that we wanted to save it for a time when we felt it would get the justice it deserved creatively. now is that time!!

the song is abt how lots of people (us too) will come up w/ any excuse for why they should or shouldn"t do something. no matter if it"s good or bad for them. lyrically it also plays into themes of mental health, but in a light hearted way (a common theme for us).

anyway, this one"s been sitting on the hard drive for far too long and it"s definitely one of those summers bangers(hence the name). so, we hope you fuck with it!

Instinct (pt 2)

This entire EP was written, produced, mixed and mastered in 48 hours. Kevin and I set ourselves a challenge to not question any creative decision we made. To entirely act on instinct. There"s something enlightening about being against the clock. Decisions that previously were arduous and sometimes impossible to make became easy. The resulting music isn"t perfect, but it"s some of the most honest and raw stuff that we"ve made and we"re both immensely proud of it. this song is so insane to me, and the best part is how its creation was such a journey

pt. 1 conception (5.18.22)

mood swings started may 18, 2022 when i had an in-person session with rohan (roho), we had already made two or three songs together virtually but had never met in person and wow he is very tall. also one of the kindest, easiest to get along with, and most effortlessly talented people i"ve worked with. we started the session the same way all my favorite sessions start, with about 2.5 hours of talking. i think this was before eth went down such sweet and innocent times.

eventually, we started working and the first thing that rohan played was the piano chords, we went through a few versions before we landed on the ones you hear (first time they come in is when i start rapping). he plays all his drums by hand on a keyboard, which is why they feel so human. i"ve seen very very very few people do it in person, and nobody as well as he does. he talks and makes jokes while he comes up with the craziest shit its insane. there are like 3-4 different drum patterns throughout this song its insane.

as the instrumental started to take shape i started having ideas for raps. i wrote a very long verse (cut it down by about 12 bars in the final version) and felt like i was truly in the "flow" for the first time in months. i had been struggling with feeling a lot of self-judgement whenever i created for a while but working with rohan unlocked a playfullness and free-spiritedness that i hadn"t tapped into for a while. kind of a similar feeling i get from yelling on twitter honestly.

i recorded my verse in one take as well as a hook idea that was very different from what this song ended up being. we left the session with a verse and a hook recorded and a super rough layout of the instrumental.

from there i took it home and worked on it that night, adding the distortion to the bass and developed out the arrangement and my vocal mix a little more. i was in my studio at my house with a couple friends who were gassing me up.

pt.2 may-july 
(forgot about the song)

it didn"t fit on the new album i"m working on so i just put it to the side and didn"t think i"d come back to it. i would listen to it from time to time and play it for people and the reactions were always super positive but i didn"t know where to "put" it in my discography.

pt.3 july 2022
i traveled 6 times from june 19th - july 26th and the song was finished while i was still living out of my suitcases

at this point jon and i had been talking about working for a couple of months, and i had sent him a different song i wanted him to get on. i think i had already sent this song to another artist and showed it to jon on a whim. but he connected with this one instantly and said he was writing to it.

a week or two passed and he sent me his vocals. i started working on them in miami and finished them in san antonio in sunny"s apartment. after i mixed his voice i spent a day or two changing the production around his verse to fit what he was saying. i recorded some vocals / adlibs over his verse to add to it and added that skit between hook2/verse2 while sunny was studying at her table.

at this point sunny b"s executive production really kicked in. she told me i needed a new hook, and made a few changes in production to jon"s verse and later mine. very key addition of the tire screeching sound in jon"s verse by bizzle. 

i bounced a version of the song with the hook taken out just so i could imagine new ideas in its place. sunny"s in medical school and is doing clinical rotations now so i dropped her off every morning at 5:55am. on the way back one morning i started playing "Mood Swings v.8 [no hook]". I wasn"t trying to write to it, but when the hook came around i started singing the melody for the new hook and i got really excited.

if u are reading this tweet "mood swiiingiiiinnggggg" and tag me or jon on twitter and one of us will send u a customized selfie response it"ll be great. this is to reward u for really reading this long-ass thing.

it came about really effortlessly after that. i wrote the hook parked in her car, playing the music too loud at 6am and spent the next hour or so figuring out how to record it, and deciding that the intro needed to just be the hook with the distorted bass.

a couple days later sunny mentioned how my verse felt too long and helped me pick out 8-12 bars that needed to get cut out. the pitched up swearing ending of the verse was always there with the beeps but it didn"t have context so i added in the "talk show" skit and that was pretty much the song.

It"s a bit of a sad song, but against upbeat rhythm & soothing melodies..

It might feel like a love song to you, but tbh I wanted to write from the perspective of Adam, being kicked out the Garden of Eden.

I"m digging this flow of releasing, everything different than the last.., as I build in the traditional sense getting ready to tour. - Every drop on here should serve all the easter eggs I"ll ever make.

Hurts (feat. Sara Phillips)

I love heartbreak, to be honest. I often find inspiration in memories or images stuck in my head; very visual, and very vivid.

When I reached out to Sara, I remember telling her about this idea of being in a new relationship while still dreaming about the previous one. Its a tough spot you know? It hurts. I guess we all have that past relationship that hasnt really allowed us to move on, that messed us up. As a result, we end up unconsciously looking for that person in everyone we meet, which most likely wont happen and will end up hurting the other person.

So this song is about that, how cold and lonely it feels to be with the wrong person. How painful it feels to hold on to one and not have the courage to let go. How we lie and say we are fine, hurts like hell.

Let's Play House

Who are Beachcrimes? Were a duo from LA and we spent the last year making songs in hotel rooms around the world. Beachcrimes is the soundtrack to that adventure.
 
We made a lot of songs, and were excited to share them with you. All of them. This year were going to release 24 songs in 48 weeks, in web3 and beyond, starting this week on Sound. We want to build this album in public, and bring our holders into the creative conversation as we go.

If were being real, its actually two albums  theres AM and theres PM. AM is the lite stuff, PM is the nite stuff. Think of it like the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics, but for dance music. WATCH THIS SPACE.

Lets Play House is the 1st of these 24 singles. PM through and through. And were excited to launch this project on Sound XYZ today with our genesis mint, limited to 24 editions at .01 ETH. Jump in and build with us. Single two will be out 2 weeks from today, and single three 2 weeks after that. More on that later.  

Lets Play House is our debut mint, the genesis key, the access pass for everything else were planning in this space. We made the song in Milan last summer. Our first time in Italy, just two kids running through the streets of Milan stumbling into any place that played house music. When we got back to our hotel room, it was clear what we needed to do. That night on the balcony, Lets Play House was born. 

We feel like it could be the start of something special, a grand experiment we cant wait to bring into the world, and wed love for you to jump in and build with us.

Cool With You?

I remember having a conversation with a "music exec" in the past for some critiques and insight on my music.

I was told: "The music is great. You rap great, the production is great  and love music with this type of message. But the masses won"t tune in to this kind of music. The world is too dark its not you." When I asked what that meant, I was told in so many words I needed to have a rough childhood upbringing turned positive to make my message loved and respected by people. If not, then I needed a gimmick of some sort.

That convo put me into a small stint of depression and snatched the inspiration right out of me. I"m grateful for friends with wisdom that told me that person was very likely trying to make me their industry pawn but also made it clear to me that -- MY story? Was indeed needed in the world via my music.

Not too long after that, I was inspired to produce and write this song. It was a letter to my listeners asking them an important yet somewhat rhetorical question: 

this is my life and experience...is that cool with you?

I hope this record can be an encouragement to all artists of all genres and forms to always stay true to you. We should all strive to become great at what we do and explore new sounds and ways to create. But we should never lose who we are for the sake of money (USD or ETH) or just to attract a large audience. Because you can really die while you"re still alive.

"One Step" is the 3rd of these 24 singles. This is the most PM song we have. Built around a single vocal loop we wrote and recorded in Florence, this song proudly flies the flag of tech house - a genre that we respect and love. If you close your eyes, we hope you can feel the electricity of a 4am Italian club. Cuz we sure can.

Next single will be out 2 weeks from today, and the following single 2 weeks after that.

Before I Die was a song I made in a time where I felt scared to show myself in the world but deep down I also knew that theres so much I want to do and experience in this world. This record is about recognizing ones own potential, risking everything to go after your vision and not listening to anybody outside of yourself.
Alot of my music reflects my life growing up, wanting to be understood and exposing my vulnerabilities in hopes it will help others to open up about whatever they are going through.
