Chasing Color

These rock formations have been standing in front of the ocean for millions of years, yet they still stand there with pride. Their shapes might have been changed because of unstoppable motion coming from the strong waves, but they are still there and surviving. And the best part is that they are exposed to incredible sunsets every single day. At the time of this shoot, I was lucky enough to be next to them and freeze this moment for you to see and hopefully feel what I felt at that time.

Color Festival

We as mankind achieved so much more during our time, but we are still so weak compared to the forces of nature. If you have been in front of the crazy waves of the ocean even once, you would understand what I mean. The intensity of the waves is so powerful that it makes people stop and look at the ocean, terrified! 

Even if we as mankind managed to sail through oceans and powerful waves and discover new worlds, we know in our hearts that we are not a match with the ocean! This image, for that reason, represents the rivalry between men and the ocean!

Men vs Ocean

I always find myself attached to the shape of clouds in the sky and their colors during sunsets. When I shot this image, the clouds formed together to bring out a shape that reminded me of the wings of a bird. If you look again, you will understand what I mean! When the amazing view of the sky came together with the great view from the ocean, I was blessed with a beautiful image that I felt lucky to have captured. The contrast between opposing forces is what makes an image strong, and here you can see it between the calm sky and wild waves!

Wings in the Air

Ursa Beach is a very famous beach in Portugal because of these huge rock formations and the view it provides from above. It becomes even more magical during sunsets because of the color of the sky and golden hues hitting the rocks. The big waves of the ocean might look random, but if you do a long exposure, you"ll see it follows a pattern. 

Going down to the beach is also not easy as it requires a big hike, so most people prefer to watch it from the hill above. Maybe that"s why some locals draw a naughty sign on the beach, which can only be seen from above. If you are curious, you can zoom in to see it on the beach!

Magnificent Rocks

Shot this image on a beach very close to my home. Even though I"ve been there maybe a thousand times, I still capture new, exciting views anytime I go there. The sunset was so powerful that the sky was like burning on that day. It was not easy to find a composition where I could reflect both the colors of the sky and the rocks. Happy to come out with this image with a lot of dimensions in it! I"m not sure if I can see the sky again like this, but I"m sure I"ll capture exciting new exposures whenever I go there!

Burning Sky

Shot this image in Azenhas do Mar, a village that looks like it was built inside a big rock when you look at it from this side. Even though the view on this spot is amazing any time of the day, it"s unrivaled during the sunset. It was so dreamy, almost like a scene coming out of fairy tales! Happy to be able to capture such beautiful colors and freeze them in this image for everyone to see this beauty!

Dreamy Town

Shooting in Long exposure mode provides interesting views you wouldn"t normally see. When I first saw the result on my camera, I immediately thought these rocks were like flying over the clouds. Even one of them reminded me of some spaceships from the Star Wars series. If you look closely, you will see what I mean. 

A long exposure also helps calm down the relentless ocean waves hitting the rocks! This is why this image is so special, as it holds both the calmness and relentlessness inside it!
