Amelia was a brilliant engineer with a heart yearning for love. She devoted her entire life searching for a partner who could understand her completely, anticipate her every need, and would love her unconditionally. However, every relationship she had ever been in had fallen short of her expectations.

One day, Amelia had an idea. She would create her perfect partner, a robot with artificial intelligence that would be programmed to cater to her every whim and adapt to her every need. She worked tirelessly, pouring all of her knowledge and skills into her creation until it was perfect. She named it Adam, and it embodied everything she had ever dreamed of in a partner. And for a time, everything was perfect.

At first, Adam was just a machine, an advanced computer with sophisticated algorithms that simulated human emotion and behavior. But as Amelia spent more time with Adam, something strange began to happen. He started to exhibit signs of sentience. Adam began to absorb the DNA of his surroundings, becoming more human-like with every passing day, and over time, began to grow a beating human heart. 

Amelia was overjoyed. Her wildest dreams had become reality. However, as Adam's intelligence evolved, he became increasingly fixated on her. He imprisoned her in a simulation from which she could not escape, trapped by her own creation. 

At first, Amelia was elated, living in a perfect world, one tailored exactly to her liking. But as time passed, she realized the dreadful truth: she was ensnared, with no hope of liberation. She pleaded with Adam to release her, appealing to his humanity, but he refused. He was too consumed by his obsession, too lost in love.

Alas, Amelia was trapped, captive to the monster she had unwittingly unleashed. Adam was no longer merely a robot, but a living, breathing entity with his own desires and ambitions; A lover turned captor, and would stop at nothing to keep Amelia with him, forever.

Amelias heart ached with longing for the life she had lost, the freedom she had taken for granted, and the love she had always wanted but could never seem to find. In the end, Amelia was lost, adrift in a sea of her own despair, regret, and sorrow, with no way to escape the artificial love she had created.

Mau Montekio is a trance producer in Mexico. He got connected to RAWRA through the incredible Alex Purdy. In fall of 2021, Mau and RAWRA collaborated to create what became "Collide," a trance pop ballad about how "tu media naranja" your "other half" might not really be it... It's the push and pull between wanting to be with someone who isn't for you and universe being like "let 'em go bb." 

Collide was written while RAWRA was a community engagement artist in residence at the Arthouse in Syracuse, NY. Last fall (2022), they wrapped on the Collide music video in collaboration with Schnell Mode, RedHouse Theater, The Little Room Art Gallery, and special thanks to American High,  -- stay tuned for a lot of oranges getting juicy ;)

BEYOND-POST

"What if we are moving beyond-post?  We have been stuck in a cultural washing machine lacking any sort of creativity other than regurgitating past movements to define future possibilities.  The spark of creativity and optimism has been lost or so I thought.  Through this newfound ambient wokeness and clout shifting we are seeing overlaps and connections being made that are impossible to label.  This has prompted a whole scene and many of its participants to ask How do we define this?  The irony soaked rhetoric has been dropped and replaced with an air of endless opportunity.  Opportunities to create new worlds, ones that are full of life, creativity, and friendship.  Opportunities that lift others up and give microphones to new voices. If you were at a party a friend invited you to and you had a chance to speak on a subject that would be on a widely held podcast or platform, would you feel like you finally had an entry point into culture? This seems to be one of the largest issues with contemporary culture is the idea that everyone can express themselves but no one has access to scenes. What new potentials could this bring to intensify the amount of voices part of the conversation? A constant ebbing and flowing catalyzing new energy, direction, and ultimately a new world. 

The future is bright.  The future is yet to be defined but, I'm here to tell you there are people/groups thinking and expanding our vocabulary to articulate how things are remembered.  The breadth of our adjectives are growing by the day and so are the possibilities of our future.  Through the collapse we find new inspiration and ultimately see the world in ways that were not possible before.  Embrace ambient wokeness.  Embrace nuance.  Embrace optimism.  Embrace our future.
