It'll Be (Video Game Song)

Following up on her 2022 single Yeehoo! Lauren Juzang returns on March 1st,  with her second single Itll Be (Video Game Song) !

The song Itll Be describes the brutal emotional process of evaluating if a relationship is still serving you or not. Naturally, theres a back and forth that occurs, but ultimately, the disappointment settles and growth can begin from it. Laurens ethereal voice and words of contemplation are accompanied by electronic synths that weave with acoustic guitar and banjo to create a track that is completely singular.

I got to play around with a lot of melodies and rhythms on this one, Lauren says about the writing process. Sonically, its a bit more experimental of a direction that I havent ventured into before. My roommate also said it sounds like a video game, hence the title. Itll Be (Video Game Song) was co-written and produced by Aidan Spiro at Heavy Duty Studios in LA.

My name is Mark Johns, Im an artist living in LA and have been making music since 2015.

I wrote this on the piano in my room a couple years ago and immediately ran downstairs to bang on my neighbor Brentons door. He was in a session with our friend AO beats and I basically hijacked it, begging them to help me turn the piano into guitar. We recorded the whole thing in less than 20 minutes. I cried a bunch and that was it.

Anytime I wanted to put it out I was talked out of it by somebody telling me that there wasnt enough in it to latch on to. What even is the hook here, theres no drums, the guitar sounds like ass etc etc etc. I had no interest in changing it so I just never released it.

It sucked cause songs like Im sorry are the songs that I feel like a part of me is embedded in. They are the ones that take 20 minutes to write because you dont need to think when youre telling the truth.

Feels special for this to be my genesis NFT, and I truly appreciate every single one of you who takes the time to listen.

Hall Pass

this is my song hall pass. i wrote this because I wanted to capture the feeling of self-sabotage. ive always had this fear that when something is going too well im just waiting for it to fall apart. its almost a form of protection and being okay with someone leaving before you get hurt, which is why i loved the title hall pass, its giving someone an out.

the process of making this song was very natural, it started with a poem i read about fear and how it manifests in different ways. after reading that poem, the lyrics and melodies started to flow, and it all came together quite naturally :)

 this is a special one, i hope it resonates with you all in some way !
