In his works, many of which are also critical of the times, he seeks to penetrate the surfaces of the real world and invite the viewer to reflect, almost forcing him to do so. Hellwig's works are exhibited nationally and internationally and can be found in various private collections. Many of his photographs have been awarded several awards.
