*923 Empty Rooms* is an artwork about simulation and the history of visual representation and abstraction. Each room is a space to explore.

Each of the 923 unique rooms contains a simulated still life, an arrangement of forms. There are six primary forms, each linked to a city: Sun (Tokyo), Shard (Berlin), Cargo (London), Hive (New York), Pyramid (CDMX), and Moon (Los Angeles). A series of rooms will be minted over the course of a simultaneous, six-day exhibition at galleries in each city.

There are 923 rooms in total to iterate through every possible combination of the six shapes:

1 form = 6 unique combinations
2 forms = 21 unique combinations
3 forms = 56 unique combinations
4 forms = 126 unique combinations
5 forms = 252 unique combinations
6 forms = 462 unique combinations

*923 Empty Rooms* is an evolution of *An Empty Room*, commissioned by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) for the Coded: Art Enters the Computer Age, 19521982 exhibition. *An Empty Room* was installed at LACMA from 9 April to 2 July 2023.

Agglo delves into the intricate balance between randomness and repetition, constructing and evolving modules over time on a minimalist canvas. Inspired by weaving and printing techniques, it translates linear messages into captivating two-dimensional images, each emerging gradually from the algorithmic process. With a focus on the essential grid, the exploration maintains clarity by sidestepping geometric complexities, resulting in a captivating interplay where emergence and transformation from one-dimensional to two-dimensional remain at the heart of Herzog's creative endeavor.

At the dawn of the universe there was chaos. Then there was TARTARUS. Below Hades lies a dark abyss. As far below the earth as Elysium is above. A vast chasm, both dismal and dank. A place of decay. A place of entombment for the Titans who would dare to defy the gods, and the mortals who have committed the most unforgivable of sins  souls deemed impious and unjust by Judges of the Dead. Sentenced to be eternally damned. TARTARUS is calling. The punishment will fit the crime.

Sabotage pictures the constant fight of order versus chaos. It takes shape of a series of real time animations that move pixels in a simple but oddly surprising way. Central to the animation are various sets of patterns such as grids, lines and gradients that are arranged on the canvas to create an initial state of order. The rows start to shift to the left and right and in the middle of the canvas, the 'saboteur' is shifting pixels from the top to the bottom to manipulate the order of the patterns. The process runs endlessly and mixes pixels into new compositions while also restructuring the order on its edges.
