Written together and produced by DEEGAN, here's how the duo describes IM MY OWN ENEMY:

I've been making a lot of soul and r&b, but started hitting a wall. I was like, I'm angry. I can't do this. I'm too distracted. I'm too in my own head, so I wanted to make something aggressive to get my energy out. Every artist has that feeling of the cloud hanging over them like, You have to do this. You have to do that, says DEEGAN. 

I mostly only write good songs when I'm either really fucking mad or really fucking sad, Mija chimes in with encouraging affirmation.

on september 5th, late at night, i got a text.  it was from deegan.  an audio file.  no instruments, no production of any kind.  just his voice.  

by the time i had reached the end of the recording, i was tearing up.  i'd never heard him so vulnerable and raw.  i immediately dragged the file into ableton 9 and started producing around it.  i worked until 5 am.  it was the most cathartic musical experience i had had in months.  i hope this song can do for you what it has done for me.  <3

Welcome to Eternal Garden.

Eternal Garden follows the story of Caius, an angel cast out of heaven by the goddess Flora, tasked with a mission to terraform a now desolate and uninhabitable earth. Though his mission was successful, he broke the singular rule necessary for an angels survival. Caius falls in love with an earthly being, later revealed to be a centuries old shapeshifter, and falls into a deep slumber. Locked in a daydream, he relives the memories of a thousand men, unlocking the secrets of the human condition as he experiences love, heartbreak, and resentment over and over again. He awakens to a world on fire and stripped of his angelic blessing. To reclaim his power and fulfill his promise, Caius embarks on a treacherous journey to the Eternal Garden - a portal between Heaven and Earth, and the source of their vitality.

Soulection+ Radio: Untitled 001 is our GENESIS Web3 radio show, brought to you in partnership with Sound. After over a decade of using our Soulection Radio platform to share & support the music we love, we are excited to finally be able to break bread with artists on a mix - and share the earnings from the project in real time! 

This Soulection+ Radio mix features all of our great artists who have been essential to the Soulection legacy over the past 11 years. Many of the artists on this mix have never released anything on Web3. We truly appreciate their trust and willingness to experiment with us. Part of our goal as an entity is to make it easy for the creatives we support to comfortably explore how art & music can intertwine with blockchain technologies, and carve a lane for themselves to travel forward independently as they see fit.
