This full moon is named after hungry wolves howling about the lack of food in midwinter.

It is also a micromoon, meaning that the moon is at its farthest point from Earth, about 252,600 miles from Earth.

Ferries are a way of life in the PNW. Running between Port Orchard and Bremerton, WA is the Carlisle II, the oldest remaining Mosquito Fleet vessels. Built in 1917, the Carlisle II originally ran between Lummi Island and Bellingham.

Reaching its peak on May 5th, May"s Flower Moon is a full moon that derives its name from the blooming of flowers during this time of year, particularly the flowers of the mayflower plant. The May Flower Moon is also sometimes known as the Full Corn Planting Moon, as it traditionally marked the time when corn was planted in North America.

Starting the evening of April 5th and reaching its peak just after midnight on April 6th, 2023 - Pink Moon.  

This full moon, while not named after actually appearing pink in color, is named after Creeping Phlox, an early blooming wildflower. 

Another name for this full moon is the Paschal Moon, or first moon of Spring.

Never stop learning, never stop exploring. Keep growing. Being uncomfortable can lead to great growth. Watch for the beacons to keep you off the rocks. 

Based on the New Dungeness Light Station located at the tip of a five mile long sand spit near Sequim, WA. The lard oil lamp was first lit on December 14, 1857. 

Comet ZTF, aka the green comet, passes by in the upper right. 2023 is the first time it has been viewed from earth in 50,000 years.
