A Car Details Story

One of the details I enjoy the most is capturing Automobile emblems.

Not all carmakers have such detailed and complexe logo design as Porsche has and thats why its one of my favorites. While, at the time Im writing these lines, most of the carmakers are adopting a design more minimalistic for their logo. Porsche hasnt change its yet, preserving a strong link to their roots. Indeed, the design in the shape of a crest, is a direct inspiration of Wrttembergs coat of arms, where the headquarters were located during its creation, in 1952.

I do love the BMW 507 because of the purity of its design and also because of its history.

Back in 1956 when BMW launched the 507, the Mercedes Benz 300 SL was its main direct competitor. And BMW quickly realised that it was a battle already lost, as the 300 SL was already really popular and more beautiful to the eyes of the grand public. This paired to the quick increase of the production costs in Germany, almost made BMW broke.

Indeed, BMW was expecting to produce thousands of them yearly, mainly for the US and ended up only producing 252 cars in total.

So seeing a BMW 507, either in the streets or at an event, to me is always something special and worth being contemplated.

If you were able to follow my Art for a while, you might already know I'm always up to chase and capture a sunset.

During a drive organised by the Oktan Club, we had the opportunity to stop at one magnificent point of view, right on time for a breathtaking sunset. All the conditions were reunited for me to capture this warm beautiful moment.

Back in 1970, Citron launched theSM car. This model was a luxury sport coupe with a futuristic design. This was not the only originality of this car, indeed the French carmaker mounted a V6 Maserati by default, making a great mix between the Italian and French expertise.

One year later, Heuliez reimagined the SM in a more advanced, more futuristic and more luxurious form. Presented as a concept to Citron, it unfortunately never made the cut and was stopped before going to production. If you have never had a look at this SM Espace, you should definitely check it out. It is a true masterpiece with lots of incredible details for the 70s, to me, a real symbol of the French savoir-faire.

There are cars that you will see in the flush only once in a lifetime but that you will always remember. 

That is definitely the case with the McLaren BMW F1 GTR. I was lucky enough to see it during the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2023. With a prestigious racing pedigree, the McLaren BMW F1 GTR is a true icon in racing history, even more so than the one captured, actually raced at Le Mans back in 1997.

When Lambo? Now !

On a warm Sunday morning at the 'Cars & Coffee', full of supercars, my eyes were suddenly attracted by a white 'Bianco Canopus' Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder.  
The contrast of the white paint color with the black and gold Lamborghini emblem was just too good under the low and direct sun lights, making this shot looking just perfectly.

You never know what type of gem you might bump into when attending a car auction.

Back in June 2023, I went to a car auction close to my place, as a curious car enthusiast that I am, to admire some of the gems up for sale. While I was appreciating the beauty of a black Aston Martin DBS Vantage Sports Saloon, one detail caught my full attention... The hood emblem, with its gold finish, was just shining under the indirect lights. I immediately loved the contrast between the dark black paint finish of the car and its gold and white emblem. 

Cherry on the cake, the emblem has the name of David Brown, a major person in Aston Martin's history. Indeed, Brown acquired Aston Martin in Feb 1947 when the car maker was for sale. Thanks to his acquisition and a lot of hard work, the famous Aston Martin DB1 was born shortly after, in 1948.

While on my way to attend the Concorso d"Eleganza Villa d"Este 2023, I bumped into a RUF preparation on one of the parking lot... What look like to be a RUF Turbo R (993) was resting there, with the fresh rain drops of last night still running on its body.

Few seconds after admiring this stunning machine, I quickly noticed the specific RUF emblem, that was totally new to me, never seen one like that one before. I didn"t need more to immortalize it.

Genesis

After a long day driving on the roads of the French Alps, while I was unloading the 911 at hotel, I noticed the warm low lights of the sunset landing on the dusty rear hood of my 911, emphasizing its badge. I admired this view for a few seconds before realizing I absolutely needed to immortalize this moment. It was a fantastic way to end a day full of unforgettable memories.

Driving a classic Porsche during winter and snow, is always a special to me. It might not pleased most of you, as you might think they are supposed to stay away from snow, like proper garage queens... But those cars were meant to be driven. Even during winter.

Meant to be driven

While working for Porsche Classic Geneva dealership, I had the chance to take for a ride this 911 2.4 S Targa.
The spec of this timeless machine didn"t stop only to its bright yellow paint color, but its interior was also finished in a surprising green leather, making the whole car unforgettable.
In addition, I was amazed by its engine, the 2.4 S, which only wanted to roar and swallow kilometers after kilometers, as easily as it is with any modern sport car.

Afterwork Drive

When my friend, amazing and talented photographer, Daniel Z., sent me a text to take some pictures of an icon such as this Porsche 356 A Coupe, it can"t be declined.
In no time, I was behind the steering wheel, warming up the engine of my 911 SC, ready to meet with this beautiful masterpiece of automotive history, a dream for most of us. At least for me.

Talking about exclusive car, the Ferrari FXX K Evo is definitely one of them as only 40 were ever produced for members of Ferrari"s XX client program.  
Imagine the delightful to be able to see one in person posing under the Italian rain with just enough light to make this gorgeous Grigio Alloy paint shine.

Its definitely not everyday that you have the chance to capture a UFO landing on a frozen lake Okay not exactly a UFO but its close enough: a Lancia Stratos HF Zero.

Likelihood of you encountering one is extremely low as there was only one ever built. Imagine the boldness of the owner to have such a unique concept car travel the world and participate in incredible events like the ICE Event, where this shot was taken. Kudos and a heartfelt thank you for providing us with the opportunity to admire it in person.
