Today I asked my friend Stephen if I could take a portrait of him. Weve shared a studio space for about 4 years now and hes become a good friend. Hes spent close to 50 years making art for a living and is a well of talent, advice, and regular help. He primarily focuses on landscape work, but from time to time he paints structures. His structures are my most favorite of his work. In particular a series of Waffle House paintings he started a couple years back!!

While walking the streets people usually look ahead to their destination with the head held high. 

Instead, I looked at my feet and I began to wonder. I saw figures, natural and urban landscapes, things that no one would expect to find on the asphalt. 

In something that may seem dead I have seen life.
