April 21, 2022 in Rozel, Kansas: Night summoned this beautiful low precipitation supercell as the the brushstrokes of sunset gently faded into blue hour. It crept slowly across the sky, closer and closer toward this weathered barn becoming more ominous by the minute. Suddenly a twisted lightning bolt boiled inside the updraft and burst forth from the clouds like a reckoning from within.

This is one of the best northern lights show I was able to capture while I was exploring northern Norway. I drove around without a destination in mind and stayed up all night for weeks to make sure I wouldn"t miss any opportunities and I was not disappointed. This piece represents the unknown. It"s also a reminder that some of my best work is often created when I explore unfamiliar places without a plan and push myself beyond what I feel I"m capable of.

How do I take these self-portraits?

They are a combination of 2 images. I take one shot of the overall scene which is typically a long exposure shot to smooth out any water and clouds in the sky. I then take a second shot of myself as the subject and combine them together in photoshop. Since I am often adding a long exposure technique to my images, I can"t pose for more than a few seconds without visible movement in my hair or dress. I use a remote on my phone that connects to my camera to take the photo.

About the artist - Sarah is a passionate environmental self-portrait and landscape photographer. Based in the beautiful Canadian Rockies, she is widely known for her signature yellow dress, long exposure work, and bubbly personality.

January Blizzard of 2022 in Toronto, Canada, while most would stay home from the storm, we go out in the snowstorm to document the story of mother nature. This blizzard shut down the city, created power outages  and gridlocks, and caused people to be stranded. I couldnt go back to my place because the roads and transit lines were packed with snow. That day it snowed 55cm. It was forecasted to be around 30cm. Through the tough weather, I saw people going to their jobs to make their living. Got to respect the hustle and gotta do what you gotta do at the end of the day. Nature tells us a story with her weather. We try to adapt and be prepared to make it through the tough time. It goes to show that though there might be some rough days, but, eventually it gets better with time.

Out in the chack channel country of Australia, some of the roads don't seem like much, but they took me to places I never dreamed of existing. Wild times on my first trip to Australia.

Despite my nomadic life on the road for years, I know for certain that if it weren't for Robert Downie's bravely letting a traveling elf hop into his Outback pimped car, I would not have been able to see this insane landscape.

Urban Archetypes Editions

Urban Archetypes are photographic portraits of skyscrapers.

My reason for using a camera as a tool is that it allows me find simplicity, peace, and solace within the viewfinder. Typically I am photographing calm and quiet scenes in nature, however during a trip to New York City I found myself entranced by the overlapping geometric patterns, reflections, and organization of the skyscrapers towering overhead. Unlike the trip a year prior, this time I had my camera.

There, in the middle of Manhattan, I was able to find that simple beauty that draws me into my viewfinder and causes everything outside of that little box to melt away. There, in the middle of Manhattan, I found peace and solace.

Many of the photos are presented in unconventional orientations in order break the context of standing in the middle of the city in an effort to show you the beauty that exists outside of the literal subject in the words of Minor White: One should not only photograph things for what they are but for what else they are.

I hope that these photos cause you to look closer at your surroundings to find a deeper appreciation for the often overlooked simplistic beauty that surrounds you. Even in the most chaotic of places, there is still peace to be found.

This is a living collection that will slowly be added to as I visit New York or other large cities. I dont know when the next time that I visit a large city with my camera will be, or even if it will ever happen, but my intent is to add to this collection in blocks, which each new block being a sampling of images from a single trip. Angulation is the Edition for Block 1.

Used with permission, the title of the collection was inspired by Kjetil Golids generative artwork collection Archetype, which these photographs reminded me of.

To me this image is a beautyful metaphore to us citizen of web3 that are still active during the historical bear market of 2022. We are still here. And we are not leaving. Resilience!  
  
While cruising through the deserts that surround Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, i suddenly had the feeling of seeing a fata morgana. 
In the distance, it looked like there were trees growing in the middle of this vast landscape of sand dunes.

I drove a little closer and confirmed that i was not just having issues with my eyesight and was instantly excited!

These trees are known as Ghaf trees (Prosopis Cineraria) and they can survive in conditions that would kill most plants.  
Standing strong in the middle of a deadly environment, their greens showed me that theres always the chance to adapt and survive even the weirdest situations. Therefore this image carries a message to me that is very important!

I hope this image gives you hope and strength too!

Technique: 
Single capture at 500mm focal length to compress the perspective and further enhance the surreal mood of the scene. Signature editing in Adobe Photoshop balancing tonalities and colors.

Wildest Weather on Earth Volume 2

Standing in this field I stood in awe has this storm raced towards me. This massive shelf cloud was filled with rain and large hail. The deep rumbling thunder rolled across the plains, the wind whipping against my face, these are the moments that make me feel most alive. When I am out there chasing, I feel most at home, I feel a sence of peace and calmness a place where I belong.

Dancing In The Dark - An Edition By Jordan Grobe

Im a Concert Photographer - in 2019, I attended / worked 200 shows. In 2020, I only made it to 18.

This photograph is from that 18th show, taken on March 4th, 2020. It captures the essence of what I then spent the next 18 months with the National Independent Venue Association fighting to preserve.

Photography kept me sane through those months of anxious volunteering and lobbying. My camera opened the door for education and experimentation, and provided an outlet for my energy and creativity. Photography helped me find the light, in the dark.

Every piece youve seen of mine was borne from that experience - my entire artistic portfolio serves as a representation of my growth as an artist at a time when I could not practice my core craft nor participate in the joy that is communal concerts. I had been furloughed from work, so I dove into creating photographic works of art.

All of my works stem from this one.

All of my works have underlying musical melodies tied to their creation, a tune that repeated on the radio in my head throughout the process.

Im sure you can guess the companion soundtrack for this one.

Manhattan as seen from a mile and a half above.  This evening was special for me as it was going to be my last light over NYC for quite some time.  I was with friends, and excited for the flight, when we noticed a cloud bank encroaching on the island.  Helicopters aren"t allowed to fly through cloud banks, so we were extra lucky to be able to get above the clouds to capture some truly unique images that night.
