Radio Silence Pt.1 (RAW)

I was sick for the past week, probably from exhaustion..being out frequently..but I got a new guitar..Which I'm extremely happy about!

So yesterday I started playing some stuff and one thing led to another.. Not the usual case where the process is filmed and what not, so this is as raw a demo as It can get (if it weren't just a voice-memo). I was super stuffy, but started singing and I took a liking to how I sounded.

Figured I'd continue fleshing out the beat and just getting it out there. Yesterday Create, Today a light mix, Now to Upload!

Though I'm getting used to not overthinking music creation and giving it all the packaging... I'll continue this streamline process.

The concept of "Radio Silence Pt.1" to me, I've been elated to be involved in this space and in support of all the fellow pioneers herein. This is just another contribution to art. The song represents to me, "The death of radio", the hardships that come with being an artist, and having to sustain oneself through the commodization of said art.

Hey, Im Munn. I grew up in Indiana but currently live in Nashville. When I was 15 I started playing guitar and writing music but didn't take it seriously until my Sophomore year of college.

In the summer of 2018, leading up to my Sophomore year, my engagement with my fiance fell through, and I lost all interest in school. I was struggling to heal from the breakup, and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. It was during this time that I wrote my first song in over a year called I Tried. To this day, I can't describe how I felt after making that song. I had finally found my way to heal, and, from then on, creating music was all I wanted to do.
 
Around this time, a producer that I had connected with in 2017, named Dylan Stiles, was sending me beats every day. I would write and record to these beats every night using an Xbox headset and GarageBand. As time went on, we both decided that the best thing we could do was to drop out of school and go all-in on music. In July of 2019, with less than 4,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, Dylan and I moved to Nashville to do just that.
 
After a failed EP, we realized I needed a better strategy for putting out music. We decided that the best thing I could do was put out a new song every two weeks until one caught traction. On September 6th, 2019, we released the first song following this plan called I Lost Myself.

Currently, I am a fully independent singer/songwriter based out of Nashville. My team and I have been building my fan base over the past couple years and have amassed 200,000,000 streams, over a million monthly listeners on Spotify, 200k+ subs on YouTube, and more, all independently. While our music hasnt stopped growing by any means, moving into the NFT space for additional support and a new way to connect with listeners was the logical next step for us.

Earlier this year, I was in a long-distance relationship with a girl from Florida. Shortly after her and I broke up, I was back down in Florida with Friends and spent a little too much time and money trying to forget I was hurting. I went to bars and casinos and let loose. Weirdly enough, I had started a demo called "down in florida", months prior, that nearly described the exact situation I now found myself in with her. I didn't have the words to finish the song until I was back in Nashville a week later and decided to continue writing the song from my current situation. Hence, the opening of the second verse "i'm back in Nashville..." 

This track tells the story of how I did anything but face the truth of my reality. I wasn't ready to face the consequences of my actions. I hope you enjoy <3

I created Piso 23 inspired on Lo-fi music; the keys, pads, synths and vocal chops are sounds commonly used in this music genre, so i decide to experiment and combine it with some reggaetn drums. Piso 23 is the result.

The remix is a collaboration with Xcelencia; an artist and friend who has believed in me since my first day on web3. Enjoy the remix.

this song"s about going through growing pains and communication mishaps as a newly long distance couple

if there"s one thing i"ve learned in my adult life, it"s that long distance relationships are a work of the devil. 

i made this song at the beginning of the pandemic when sun and i had to be long distance, then she went to medical school and i moved back to nashville to pursue music and here we are. 2 years later and still subsisting off of 17 facetimes a day and a handfull of weekend trips to see each other.

im a naturally spacey person, consistently losing my train of thought in the middle of sentences. when we"re together its less of a problem but its almost impossible to deal with that over the phone.

It"s a bit of a sad song, but against upbeat rhythm & soothing melodies..

It might feel like a love song to you, but tbh I wanted to write from the perspective of Adam, being kicked out the Garden of Eden.

I"m digging this flow of releasing, everything different than the last.., as I build in the traditional sense getting ready to tour. - Every drop on here should serve all the easter eggs I"ll ever make.

My path in music has been one of gradual progressions - from classical piano lessons at 3 years old, to singing and playing in school talent shows, to writing, recording, cutting my teeth with 4 hour bar gigs and local venue shows, to touring, to producing, and learning a lot along the way. When the pandemic started, my journey in production hit a stride and I dove deeper than ever. In the last 6 months, the latest challenge to myself was to write and produce songs from conception to completion solely on my own. To be able to if I wanted. I love collaboration and need it as a creative, but self-sufficiency and personal growth has been crucial to my sustainability as an independent artist.

Enter Good Day To You. It started with a beat I made on one my favorite keyboards, the OP-1 by Teenage Engineering. Im inspired by sounds and mood, and that beat set the tone for the rest of the track. This is also my first released song playing live bass.

You know when words dont do it justice? That applies to people too. And sometimes no matter what you say, even if warranted, your value and worth may not be seen by someone in the way it should. In that case, silence is sometimes the most respectful action towards yourself and the most appropriate for someone who doesnt deserve any more of your time.

"crush" is another one of the many love songs I"ve written this year and one of my favorites so far. The song is inspired by my current fascination of hyperpop vocals and catchy vocal chop melodies. As someone who makes EDM most of the time, it"s always a breath of fresh air to create something more simple (sometimes less is more when it comes to music production).
