Carbon emissions are here to stay; they'll stain my canvas, no matter how green the colours on my palette."

Verse Works

By placing our trust in any of the "future techs" to solve todays environmental problems, we run the risk of postponing the actions that mattered. Carbon capture is one of those technologies weve engaged in to give us an impression of action; perhaps, unconsciously, in order to cover up our anguish, our helplessness or our guilt. 

Yet we need to keep moving forward. Art has this kind of energy, charismatic and unifying. If I believe little in technology to save humanity, I keep hope in humanity, in its conscience, in the universality of its love. If only one power is given to artists, it is that of being able to touch, sometimes, the hearts of men.

Temporale are Tapestries of Time. A digital-analog video-photo series by artist Sarah Zucker / [@thesarahshow](http://twitter.com/thesarshshow). 

Each Temporale is a fixed vantage point from which to see the fourth dimension. When you view a Temporale, you are witnessing Times flow interwoven with itself and captured in a still image.

These works begin as videos of luminous fabrics and materials rotating through space.

The seed videos are then subjected to a series of time displacements in an analog video ecosystem and then digitally slit-scanned, registering myriad timelines of the same moving object into a single still image.

The aim of this work is to evoke the non-linear experience of Time when moving between the physical and virtual worlds of the early 21st century.

Due to their fluid nature, Temporale may be displayed vertically, horizontally or cropped at the viewers preference  each viewpoint allows for new facets to emerge.

ZENTRUM is a dynamic, endlessly running abstract animation made of structural elements and random codes. The random generator ensures that each endless loop is unique. For ZENTRUM, Franke had to make do with the limited computing capacity that a home computer offered at the time. Despite this limitation, it was important to him to develop moving sequences even in his first programs for the Apple II. He considered the movement to be a pioneering digital innovation. The combination of dynamic image sequences and music, as well as the interactivity, were already groundbreaking in his MONDRIAN program code, developed in 1979 for the Texas Instruments home computer. <p>I spent a career in healthcare. I served for over a decade as a web application designer and developer for a large dialysis company working alongside frontline healthcare workers. But, I spent what felt like a lifetime in childrens hospitals from 2009-2014, sitting with my young son Joel, as he endured chemotherapy and long in-patient stays in the hospital.  Ive lived on both sides of the bedside, and Ive come to deeply respect the healthcare profession.</p>
