"Cold Is The Night"

The  man sat huddled in the cold  
Wrapped in blankets, his body feeling old  
The winter winds blew fierce and wild  
As he tried to sleep, his mind running miles

He remembered days of warmth and sun  
When he had a home and a job to be done  
But now he was alone, his life turned upside down  
The coldest winter ever had him feeling drowned

He thought of the loved ones he'd left behind  
And the choices that led him to this life so unkind  
But he couldn't dwell on the past, he had to survive  
So he wrapped himself tighter, hoping to thrive

As the days passed, the man grew weak  
The icy winds causing his body to leak  
He prayed for a miracle, for a way out of this place  
But the winter winds just laughed in his face

But one day, a kind soul came his way  
And offered a warm bed and a meal  
The homeless man couldn't believe his luck  
As he was lifted out of the cold and muck

He knew he had a long road ahead  
But he was grateful for the life he'd been led  
Out of the cold and into the light  
He knew everything would be alright.
