Push is the final offering from a larger body of work I"ve been teasing out since August 2021 with singles "Covet", "Take" and most recently "Step Down" (my genesis Sound drop!). The collection of songs are about regaining power and autonomy, whatever it takes to get it back. PUSH demands space and attention, coupling seduction with frustration. It"s my favourite track to play live and is a true indication of where the BRUX project is heading next...wonkier & louder club tracks with a tonne of attitude.

Hey Im Alexander 23 an artist/songwriter/producer from Chicago who lives in LA but still roots for the Bulls. I started making music when I was 9 years old after seeing my dad play guitar. I knew instantly that if I wasnt gonna make it to the league that I had to make music for the rest of my life. I played in bands in high school and dropped out of college after my freshman year while studying engineering to tour as a drummer/bass player.

I originally moved to LA in 2018 to write/produce songs for other artists. It was cool to start to try to make a living doing in the studio, but I couldnt help but feel like something was missing. I was working with talented artists, but I wasnt feeling creatively fulfilled. I called my manager and told him to cancel all of my sessions. I wanted to be an artist and make my own music.  I wanted to exist musically outside the studio.

Fast forward a little bit and I was able to release my first music as Alexander 23 in 2019 and was fortunate enough to go on tour with Omar Apollo and Chelsea Cutler that same year. When the pandemic hit in 2020, everything changed, as it did for everyone. Tour was cut short and I went back to LA feeling defeated. That initial isolation brought me back to a time in my own life when everything was going wrong: personally, professionally, romantically. It was that same feeling that something really important was missing.

This feeling inspired me to write IDK You Yet and this song changed my life. This year I was able to go on tour opening for one of my heroes John Mayer, was nominated for a Grammy for co-producing good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo and just last week IDK You Yet went platinum (three things that dont even sound real when I say them outloud). I wanted to share the original demo of IDK You Yet because hearing it in its original stripped form is such a strong reminder of the power of a single song. As fans of music I think we all understand that and its what keeps us coming back for more.

My entire life revolves around making music. Every day I wake up, brush my teeth, go on a run, and basically make songs until the sun goes down. If I had to estimate, I probably make close to 30 songs/mini ideas per month - and thats being very conservative.

Out of the 300+ song ideas that I make per year, I realistically only get 12-15 at bats to show DSPs what Im working on. Often times, that curation has to do with what artists are on what song, who else is releasing in the same week, and a bunch of other politics that dont make a ton of sense. 

Releasing music shouldnt be complicated.

Kevin George sent me this acapella last week as my flight from Miami back home to LA was taking off. I produced the entire thing from start to finish on the flight. I tweaked it that night, bounced it and played it at the Glass House release party the next day.

Im putting this song out to challenge the notion that every song has to have the perfect roll out and campaign. If you love a record, put it out. It doesnt matter if it took you 3 hours or 3 years

Last year was a year full of high anxiety and depression. It took a strain on my mental, and for the longest time I havent been able to cry, no matter the situation that emotion was completely cutoff! After multiple trips to help deal with my emotions it felt like I unlocked a whole new part of myself!

I managed to create Lifted Demons out of darkness and this record made me feel light, it made me want to jump around and enjoy myself again. Like, it literally had been so long since Ive seen my true self and once I did it felt like my demons had been lifted!

This being my second drop on Sound I wanted to share something special and close to my heart. I collaborated with some of my favourite artists to create a truly distinctive, cohesive piece of art.  

Sonically I wanted to strip it down and show a more raw side to my vocals, with Cam Griff on guitar the soothing strings carry the musical direction with heavenly resonance. That paired with the genius engineering and production of Tr Wright brings the whole song together seamlessly. Lyrically I really wanted to be as brutally honest as possible, touching on themes of tumultuous relationship dynamics, navigating those turbulent emotional highs and lows. 

Visually I collaborated with one of my favourite graphic artist Alex, to create an animation piece that encapsulates what it feels like to handle all of those wild emotions and turn them into super power like abilities. 

I am so proud to present to you, Black Ice.

right before i left for europe on my own i had mallory over to my place in venice beach, and we cooked this up real quick and then i took off. when i got back i realized it sort of fit perfectly into the world of daddy"s money, it was ethereal and just sounded like being in the clouds on the way to paradise, sipping champagne and ginger ale.

Hey everyone! I"m delighted to have my second drop on Sound, premiering a very special song.

I originally made The Only back in May 2022, right before my trip to LA. I was (and still am) heavily inspired by breakbeats and I wanted to combine those vibes with electric guitars, reese basses and acid synths. Being able to blend modern sounds with iconic rhythms has been my major goal for the whole year; this song aims to prove that.

The artwork is made by DVRS, my go to for any 3D visual I need and long time friend. I"ve been releasing many projects in collaboration with DVRS as I strongly believe in the importance of the audio / visual relationship. It"s safe to say my music would impact way less without his art.

The Only will be premiered on Sound on September 5th, then it will be available on DSPs the day after, on September 6th. All collectors will get an invite link to join my secret Discord.

Hi, Im msft, Italian bass music producer and web3 enthusiast. My Sound debut will be with my song Take / Back.
This song represents somehow a shift in my production workflow towards a groovier/drums-oriented approach. After releasing my EP in January which got completely sold on Catalog as well, I wanted to dive deeper into my production techniques, finding new ways to implement my skills and eventually become a better producer.
Ive been inspired by my peers in music, especially camoufly whos one of my best friends, a source of self-challenge and, of course, motivation. He made me start my web3 career months ago and he always pushed me to make whatever I want, constantly encouraging me to be and feel artistically free.
This song aims to prove how I want to keep on exploring genres/styles that I wasnt used to make years ago. Somehow, I believe this experimental approach embodies my web3 journey: building, experimenting, trying, understanding, and eventually assimilating.

Heart attack came about from three separate events that all had the same effect on me more or less. Id really hurt the girl I was seeing in the months she was away, and I went to her house to talk through everything. I realized pretty quickly it wasnt going to be a favorable discussion though, shed made up her mind and I wasnt in any place to try to convince her otherwise, so I left with my eyes full of water and cried in the car for the better part of an hour. Weeks went by without seeing her, but then I eventually did at a friends birthday and it was like getting sledge hammered in the chest. Id started seeing someone else around that time, which in hindsight was really irresponsible because my heart wasnt nearly settled, so it just led to a lot more stupid sadness for everyone involved.  Really all this music from the first half of Cherry is just the product of me being an idiot boy that couldnt see beyond his own nose too well. Like this song is so sad but you cant really pity someone that orchestrated their own pain. But dont worry, the room gets brighter the further you walk into it and we have a lot of room left.

This is the version of Heart Attack I was originally going to go with before I sat with it for a few weeks and completely reproduced it from the ground up. It didnt feel right to not have this version exist somewhere so Im glad youll have it here. All holders of this drop will be airdropped an edition of the final version when its released on my site later this year.
