The second official WesGhost release "Haunted House" is a continuation of my story through the sounds inside my head. Ive always loved scary movies as a kid & I often wondered why the world- myself included- is so fascinated by terrifying things. Perhaps seeing bad things happen in movies allows us to escape the bad things happening in our own lives. Maybe there"s something about the thrill of our fight or flight response that exhilarates us in times of fear. But what happens when life itself feels like a scary movie that you just can"t seem to escape? This song is about breaking outside of the limits the world puts us in & escaping the haunting inside of our own heads. Influenced by my love for 90s/00s electronic & hip hop, Haunted House" is the 2nd installment inside the mind of a ghost.

This is a tune I started while staying in an Airstream trailer in the woods of central California, channeling my inner Bon Iver. I spent 5 days out there making music and hiking all day. Drank a lot of instant coffee as well.

I recorded probably 30 demos in that trailer and I"ve been chipping away at them ever since. Whenever I get stuck or at a loss for new ideas, I crack open one of those projects and I can still feel the palpable sense of inspiration I had on that trip. 

The core foundation of this song is a sample of an old song my friend and I made about 10 years ago. I used some granular synthesis to make a bed from that old track, then structured a new song around the sample. As I often do I recorded my voice then mangled it up to make some emotive vocal chops. 

I"m hoping this one takes you on a nice little mental trip -- you deserve it

Glass House (Remixes)

When I was in college I got ahold of The Chainsmokers managers e-mail address. They had just dropped a record called Everybody Hates Me and as a new producer on the scene I wanted to take a pass at remixing it. I figured the best case scenario would be The Chainsmokers noticing me and taking me on a world tour with them and the worst case would be no response. To my surprise, the stems were sitting in my inbox within the hour. For the first time in my life, I had a fully processed, industry-standard engineered vocal that I could do anything with. The possibilities were endless. 

I skipped class for a week and went back and forth on seven or eight different versions of the remix - and while I didnt get the Chainsmokers to sign off on it, I did fall in love with a new process of making music. For the next few years I would wake up every morning, go to New Music Friday on Spotify, track down management e-mails on the artists Facebook about section and beg for stems. Over the years, I put out a bunch of remixes for various artists - but more importantly I slowly compiled high quality vocals that I could mess with in my spare time. To this day, that remains one of my preferred method of working on records with people; Ball! with Kevin George (which was my last sound drop) happened from him sending me an acapella and my imagination running with it.

At the time, I was paid for remixes with exposure - and I wouldnt have had it any other way. People started listening to my music on Soundcloud for the first time and I started to meet my first music friends through that experience. A lot of them are still my friends today.

However, there are a slew of examples of remixes that came out that went on to perform better than the original song did. More times than not, the remixer is paid in either exposure (like me), or a one time buyout fee which is typically $250 or less for smaller artists. Most of the time, the remixers - who breathe new life into the record - see no upside in the event that the remix is a smash. These artists are also overlooked often and dont get a chance to tell their musical stories.

The Glass House remixes is a 4 pack of my favorite reworks off my EP Glass House. Every remix came out incredible, and flipped my songs into a way I never saw coming.

The pack features artists who vary in Web3 experience - from vets like Clear Eyes and MSFT to newcomers like Veggi and Cudos, Im stoked to present the first Daniel Allan Remix pack on Sound.

As I continue to grow on my artistic journey, one thing that continues to be the priority of everything I do is building my community. What really excites me for the future of my project is entering the Web3 world to welcome early supporters and life-long veggi fans to my community.

This song "BROKEN RECORD" is the focus single off the deluxe version of my last EP: PRODUCE (CHOPPED). It is a euphoric club song that I originally started working on during the writing process of the EP. Using my own vocal samples with a disco house production is a culmination of my sound you heard on the EP and where Im heading next. 

The name of my project PRODUCE serves as a double entendre. One interpretation could be in relation to the agricultural products that are associated with my artist name veggi. The other interpretation is that this project is a culmination of my current sound as a music PRODUCER.

Who are Beachcrimes? Were a duo from LA and we spent the last year making songs in hotel rooms around the world. Beachcrimes is the soundtrack to that adventure.
 
We made a lot of songs, and were excited to share them. All of them. This year were releasing 24 songs in 48 weeks. If were being real, its actually two albums  theres AM and theres PM. AM is the lite stuff, PM is the nite stuff. Think of it like the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics, but for dance music.

Love In Portofino is the 6th gem in the crown of our 24-song opus, and the third single from our AM album. Crafted in the picturesque town of - you guessed it - Portofino, Italy, we couldnt resist interpolating a classic Italian love song as we watched the sunset over the bay. We sampled the street sounds of the town and added it as ambience under the entire track (you can hear it clearly at the very end). We guarantee this will be your parents favorite Beachcrimes song. And it might just be ours too.
