The chorus melody visited me in a dream after I had just woken up from the ache of unrequited love. The connection was etheric and like nothing I had felt before. Conversations were deep, passionate and soul-searching. Every bone in my body wanted to hold on as he began fading away. Paved speaks to a broken promise disguised as a fated lesson in discernment.

Oxytocin (with Glasstempo)

This song reflects on the intrinsic nature of humanity, existing in cyclical patterns, constantly yearning for transcendent states of mental elation.

Glasstempo and I started this work during Headless Chaos camp in the spring of 2022. It was originally pitched as one of the main 45 songs in the chaos collection but was passed on. A few of the alchemists in chaos heard our demo and decided to make an alchemy version, remixing our original samples. You can find the alchemy version at chaos.build under the same name, Oxytocin featuring Conor Dalton, Frances Miller, Violetta Hyland, Deadwalker, and of course Glasstempo and I.

The version being released on sound is Oxytocin stripped back to its essence. It features simply a piano melody, a baseline, and layers of vocals. This is my most vulnerable song to date, I hope it strikes a chord within you.

Feeling the unspoken energy of someone through their body beyond their words; I was continually trapping myself inside a web governed by Neptune and the refusal to face reality. For the first time, I was able to let go and trust in something greater.

Judgment Day by Tony Parisi

My all-time favorite speculative fiction author is Robert Heinlein. His decades-spanning career cast such a huge shadow that it would be hard to sum it up here. Hes probably best known for penning Stranger in a Strange Land as well as other notable works including The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, Time Enough for Love and Starship Troopers. While his later writing may be cringeworthy in todays woke world (lots of male gaze stuff), overall his collective body of work is very progressive and though-provoking, highly individualistic but also compassionate, always probing the human condition.

One of my top Heinlein picks is his 1960 novella If This Goes On, which tells the tale of a Christian theocracy that has come to power in the United States and a Masonic revolution intent on overthrowing it. It explores media manipulation, power politics, the role of organized religion, and personal belief. As a bonus, the novella features a strong female lead named Magdalene, a nun who plays a key part in the plot to take the country back.

As I was first conceiving the musical, I decided to employ the device of a protagonist delivering first-person admonitions to the audience to both open and close the story. The themes in the Heinlein story fit so well for a Revelation tale, and are always so top of mind for me, that the idea to title the opening piece after the novella naturally popped into my head. This one narrative choice unlocked several others going forward. While the story is totally different, the thematic overlap strongly suggested certain characters and situations. In hindsight, it was a very good choice.

Hold Me

Hold me is about the complexity of emerging yourself in something that can be bad for you whether that is music, love, social media. Its the feeling of wanting to hold on even when something could hurt you .. and that in doing so it makes it even more desirable. 

I like to put my life in my music to make it me, being myself is the one thing I can count on to make me different.. and in doing so I hope we connect through my music.

I don"t know where this will take me or what will influence me next and that"s exciting... Music as an experience should be fluid and lead you down new paths. I don"t want to fit in a box.

"Paradigmensional," a made-up word (a portmanteau of paradigm + dimensional), originated in the idea that our internal frameworks and models shape our external realities. Ultimately, it"s about what it means to be alive. I"m excited to release this track as an NFT as I think Web3 tools can build an artist"s relationship with their listeners and communities, connecting and strengthening what otherwise might be disconnected.
