Bomb Story: For a number of years, The Hundreds compiled a collection exclusively for Hawaiian retail partners, entitled The Hundreds Hawaii. Often, the T-shirt graphics were parodies of local island properties, such as Leonard"s Malasadas. Shave Ice Adam is a play on a local shave (not shaved!) ice spot that locals and tourists love alike. | Background Story: 
Horizontal stripes, especially of the yarn-dyed variety, are a staple of The Hundreds" collection. Earlier on, they were derived from the surf knits and beachgoer patterns that graced the backs of Californians in the 1980s. Examples include Hang Ten, OP, Quiksilver, and Gotcha. In the following decade, independent skate brands and rave companies capitalized on stripes across boxy, baggy tops. Whether they"re fatter stripes across neighborhood-sanctioned Charlie Browns or pinstripes across suiting or a baseball jersey, The Hundreds" stripes speak to a spectrum of subcultures.

Bomb Story: We are proudest not of fashion collections or streetwear pieces, but of the relationships we"ve built and the next generation we"ve helped raise. Nothing makes us happier than to see men and women who grew up under The Hundred"s tutelage reigning in their own storied careers. Umi Wagoner was one of our first shop employees, who then went on to manage The Hundreds Los Angeles during the foundational RSWD years. He then moved to Tacoma, Washington and opened ETC, a streetwear boutique that holds it down for his community. For ETC"s 2-year anniversary, we partnered with Umi and his team on a capsule collection. We offered him our Apple Bomb for the line since Washington is known as the Apple state.| Background Story: 
Originating in Scotland as ""tartan,"" we now call this pattern of crisscrossed lines ""Plaid."" Growing up in Southern California during the "80s and "90s, plaid beach volleyball shorts were always in our purview, thanks to labels like Mossimo and Stssy. When we elevated to making cut-n-sew apparel like button-ups in the early 2000s, plaids made their way into our language as a nod to both the surf culture of the West Coast and Polo"s influence on the East. In fact, every plaid speaks to a different subculture. Buffalo plaids were woven into the early New York hip-hop lumberjacks. Shadow plaids on swap meet Pendletons. And The Hundreds plaids, for all.

Bomb Story: For every design and collaboration successfully executed by The Hundreds, there are a handful of alternatives and pitches that fell through. Some Adam Bombs go all the way to the final stages of the filtration process but are ultimately cut. The reasoning is all over the place: we believed in it, but not enough of our stockists bought into it. Sometimes, it"s just that timing is off and the design fails to meet the climate criteria. Regardless, some bombs eventually make their way through but many are often trapped in purgatory. This is one of the lucky few drafts to finally see the light of day.| Background Story:

Bomb Story: While most Madam Bombs are intricately drawn and complex in nature, Simple Madam is a classic, 1-color version of the character. Although she started off as the TENS mascot, Madam Bomb became one of the brand"s logos over time and that required a distillation of the design down to an easy and printable mark. There is a legion of The Hundreds followers who prefer a subtle, timeless Simple Madam over any other. | Background Story:

Bomb Story: The Hundreds started by being rooted in the "80s. Our tagline is literally, ""Since 1980,"" because that was the year that the founders were born. Dimensional Adam sprouted from an era rich in design and illustration: 3D shapes, pop art and geometric shapes.| Background Story: 
The Hundreds" most iconic repeating pattern is the Paisley print. The irony? The message got lost. In fact, Bobby was never even a fan of the paisley design. It was a reference to bandana print, but the world glommed onto those trademark buta drops. So, over the years, we have re-worked the Paisley print throughout collections, and in the early 2010s, it returned as the Bandana Print. For the first time, we got to appreciate the Paisley in its orignal, intended form.

Bomb Story: At the start, The Hundreds was rooted in the "80s and "90s Southern California subcultures that comprised our youth. One big element of that season was rave culture, and most notably, rave flyers. There are entire Tumblrs and IG pages dedicated to the cult around these pocket-sized party ads. They shared the same glossy die-cut cardstock and early graphic design, but they each held their own emotions and memories from the ensuing events. Til Dawn Adam is referenced from one of the more popular rave flyers of the 1990s. | Background Story:

Bomb Story: Tap Out Adam was a salute to the rise of Mixed Martial Arts in the early 2010s. What would Adam Bomb look like having endured a significant bout in the octagon? Little did we know how much bigger MMA would become in the sports and mainstream world over the years.| Background Story:

The references usually touch on wintertime traditions and really only make sense in the season, but they remain some of the most favorite T-shirt designs - especially the Adam flips.| Background Story:

Bomb Story: This iteration of Adam Bomb is a part of the larger ""Styles"" T-shirt design from The Hundreds Summer 2007. The graphic is an appropriation of the hairstyle option posters that hang in neighborhood barbershops. Adam"s hairdos, however, reference the various subcultures and eras that speak to The Hundreds" inspirations.| Background Story:

Bomb Story: Bubbles Adam was a take-down of an earlier The Hundreds T-shirt graphic that mimicked a colorblind test. The message was both literal and metaphorical in commenting on race relations in America and how we embrace diversity in our communities.| Background Story: 
If there was ever a pattern that encapsulated The Hundreds, it would be Paisley. Our first big hit, the one that put us on the map, was the all-over-print Paisley hoodie from 2005. There"s an unabridged version of this story in Bobby"s book, but that sweatshirt sold so much, and sold out so quickly overnight, that we allocated all of those funds to building our first flagship retail store on the corner of Fairfax and Rosewood. The pattern was designed in 2004, on a lesser-remembered piece called the ""Bandana"" zip-up. Over the years, those clusters of buta droplets continued onto The Hundreds T-shirts, across cut-n-sew collections, New Era fitteds, and collaborations with artists. The Paisley print not only defined us, but greater streetwear, as it trickled down into the work of later brands and designers.
