0xmusic is a collection of generative audiovisual DJs - which are called 0xDJs. Each 0xDJ can create an infinite number of music pieces in real time. All code is stored on the Ethereum blockchain.

When the Play button is touched, a brand new song is created, and the image comes alive. The song will continue playing until you either hit Play again or the DJ moves to the next track. At this time, all memory of the prior piece is destroyed, and the new song is created. This march of creation and destruction will continue as long as 0xmusic exists on the blockchain. In this sense, each piece is both eternal and ephemeral, living in a state of superposition until it is observed.

Mirror

While working on this record I was aware that this didnt sound anything like how Im supposed to.  But I guess thats why it excited me.  I always talk with artists I work with and we frequently get on the subject of how their music never sounds like what they actually like to listen to.  I always thought that was odd, almost wrong.  Mirror sounds like the type of music that Iusually listen to.  Not all the time, but if Im on a plane or just cooling outIm playing stuff like Bon Iver, the Shins, Modest Mouse Almost calming, soul nurturing records. I was laughing with a friend about how everyones always trying to make the hardest most in your face record (which Ive done dozens of times), and about the power in the opposite.  

Ive been working on this record for 2 years and always knew it would eventually come out, just needed to find the right time.  I played this last week for my friend Rey, who is one of my favorite painters/artists probably living, his response was I cant believe you made this.  Thats probably the best thing I could have heard.

The songs about being honest with yourself, even about the ugly shit.  Its a tune of ambivalence.  And is sort of on the subject of not knowing.  Not exactly being sure.  Trying to face yourself but the image keeps changing.  Trying to see what is actually there, and what youre just dreaming up.   I think today people can toxically be like, Face your demons! Change your life! Get your act together!  I think its way more complex than that and that we are constantly shape-shifting.  Sometimes youre the fool, sometimes youre a genius, sometimes criminal.  The song sort of deals with facing all of these sides. 


My good friend and touring partner Sol Was played bass on it, his brother Henry played the drums. Johan Lenox did the strings and backgrounds.  Hope you enjoy.

Hey Sound fam! :) 

Over the next few days, Im going to be releasing the last 3 songs on my debut EP, called with friends.

Hold on to me represents a childlike sense of adventure and fun that Im always trying to capture when Im making music. Its the only song on the project that doesnt feature another artist, and I had a ton of fun making it. 

The vocal idea here is this is where my heart is, which felt like the perfect encapsulation of what I was trying to say with this project. Music is everything to me- its where I spend almost all of my time, and its where all of my creative energy goes. Its where my heart is :)

Last month I did a free drop for the demo of this song on Sound, and now before releasing on any other platforms, I"m dropping the full song! 

To catch you up to speed on the story of the song: 
Earlier this year, I was in a long-distance relationship with a girl from Florida. Shortly after her and I broke up, I was back down in Florida with Friends and spent a little too much time and money trying to forget I was hurting. I went to bars and casinos and let loose. Weirdly enough, I had started a demo called "down in florida", months prior, that nearly described the exact situation I now found myself in with her. I didn"t have the words to finish the song until I was back in Nashville a week later and decided to continue writing the song from my current situation. Hence, the opening of the second verse "i"m back in Nashville..." This track tells the story of how I did anything but face the truth of my reality. I wasn"t ready to face the consequences of my actions.
