CypherDudes

Cypherdudes is a generative cryptoart series paying tribute to the Cypherpunk movement, which has been campaigning for the protection of privacy on the internet since the early 90s, and was behind the creation of bitcoin in 2008.This series takes up the graphic universe of a character that I invented and gained some popularity in the crypto art scene : the cryptodude.A personification of crypto culture, the Cypherdude performs actions that visually translate the expressions and behaviors specific to this ecosystem.Each work in the series is unique and generated from an algorithm hosted directly on the blockchain. The parameters composing each work are selected from a wide range of elements created individually by myself and combined in a seeded random way. Each seed is determined by the blockchain on mint.The work and the Message.Each owner of a work from the series has access to a hidden feature : the ability to inscribe an encrypted message in the work itself. The encryption key is decided by the owner on every inscription. This message can then only be decoded by a recipient knowing the key. This way, the work becomes a veritable tool at the service of its owner, who, by using it, makes it evolve visually using a simple steganographic technique.The Cypherdudes thus becomes the visual witness to the presence of a message, and its digital security vault.

The Bitcoin Mining Dude


In this piece, the Dude is virtually giving a "life" to the process behind the bitcoin mining algorithm.

During this loop, every steps are made salient by a specific move.


In the lower right, is the mempool. Here it"s literally a Meme Pool, with rare pepe cards inside validated transactions, like fishes waiting to get caught.

The miner gathers the transactions, hash them and dispose them near the block hes assembling. Then he hashes all the transaction merkle root tree into one main hash.

Note that the future block contains something already : the hash of the entire previous block in the bitcoin chain.

Once the transactions hash is in place, he checks the clock, greets Satoshi Nakamoto with deference, and create the block timestamp.

Right after that, he needs to solve the block difficulty. He does it by starting the nonce iteration. This will help him finding the correct hash for this new block.

Once found, the lucky Miner lifts the block and receives the block reward which he stores it in his wallet. The solved block is hashed and added to the chain.

The Dude keeps a copy of the hash and starts all over again forever.


As a modern-time chain worker, the Bitcoin Mining Dude is focused. Both feet on the bitcoin mining code, hes acting under a binary sky, which is the transcription of the Abstract paragraph from the Bitcoin Whitepaper. His whole body is dedicated to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Punished for an excess of hubris, the Shitcoiner will forever push his coin on top of the chart to only see it roll down to the bottom and start all over again.

To catch up with the recent news and the FTX scandal, the coin is here the FTT token, made for the FTX exchange, and used to manipulated market and steal customers funds, while artificially pumping its value.

Below the chart, is scrolling the python script of the FTX exchange app (opensourced from github).

Zeros and ones in the sky are the repeated binaries of a Marcel Duchamp quote : Cest le regardeur qui fait le tableau, which can be translated to  Art is in the eye of the beholder.

In this case, this is to be adapted as follows : its the Shitcoiner that turns a coin into shit.

Encrypted Punk #1010

Each pixel has a story to tell.  
The image of Crypto Punk #1010 is encrypted through 448 5 seconds video sequences showing Parisian streets.  
Each sequence contains an assembly key to decode the main message.  
The cryptographic encoding features two layers : The position of sequences relatively to the others and the coordinates of the color sampling area inside each sequence.
