Wah gwan, my name is Krs. & I"m a music producer from Kingston Jamaica.

Soul or System is a record I started way back in 2017 when I first started visiting Los Angeles. Back then my dream was to make records with my friends that fused genres and sounded like they were at least 3 years too early for the time. 

Somewhere in 2018 I sent the instrumental to Runkus ( one of my favorite artists and long time collaborator ) and he sent me back this song a couple days later and we"ve had the demo waiting for the perfect opportunity to release it to the world.

Growing up is a journey that we all must undertake, and it is undoubtedly the most beautiful and painful experience that life can offer us. It is a journey that takes us through the mountains and valleys of life, and it is one that shapes us into who we eventually become.

This song is a perfect example of why nothing created is ever useless. Pieced together from 4 different songs I created over the past 3 years. Lyrics that never felt connected, spliced and crafted to make what I had tried to accomplish with each song made. Production elements from songs I have released, and songs I haven"t.

This one is incredibly special to me.

Trying to explain the meaning behind it would only be doing it a disservice, but what I will say is that in life you are often given a choice and those are what make or break us. Time and happenings make those choices harder for some, and for a long time I chose wrong. I don"t want to die young.

FIGHT FOR THIS

In the same vein as "u&i", this song is about the struggles of a relationship between two people wanting to fight for each other, but not being be able to fight for the right reasons at the right time. I"ve experienced this many times before, both sides, being the fighter and the person that someone is fighting for. 

Each side has things that are hard to handle and even harder to do, but this song is from the perspective of a fighter who wants to be fought for, while simultaneously understanding that sometimes a fight isn"t necessary.

In writing this song, this description and just in general, I"ve realised that the word "fight" is one often associated with negativity, with pain, survival and violence, be it towards others, or yourself. But I choose to see it in the light I want it to be in, which is trying your best to make sure the reality you want, with someone you love, can come to life with enough effort, time, patience and fight.

Look Fast

"Look Fast" is the intro track to my latest EP "Always Less", released Oct. 7 via Friends of Friends. 

The EP represents my getting back into the swing of things amidst a creative identity crisis. Throughout the entire process, I was fighting the impulses that had been cultivated over the last few years which pulled me away from music. 

"Look Fast" is exciting to me because I found a way to develop the sound I"ve established while keeping it cohesive with my other music.
