Relics

My name is Toha and this is the story behind my solo genesis, Relics

This track was birthed a few months back when TK the Legend and Kits.IO released The Eternal Garden Master Collection sample pack. https://www.kits.io/packs/eternal-garden-master-collection

I started browsing it and the loop featured in his song Pain instantly grabbed my attention. I let my Intuition guide the writing process and before I knew it, I had a finished track on my hands. 

At the time I was meditating on relics.
Relics can be categorized as souvenirs with deep historical or personal value- often creating feelings of nostalgia or a reminder of experiences lost to the hands of time. Relics can also hold spiritual power and be used as a tool to strengthen or protect the holder.

The artwork features Suyat, an ancient writing script from the Philippines. Historically it was written on leaves and wood, but also carved into artifacts like pottery or jewelry. Using this script alongside the artwork is my way of re-imagining the relic as something that can live on-chain forever. Learning to write Suyat empowers me and I hope to share that feeling through the song and artwork.

My vision for this release is to inspire new people to have fun participating in a Sound.xyz drop

In the spirit of that, I have a few rewards:

All collectors additionally can reach out to me directly and have their name written in Suyat 

I've also created a physical relic- a framed mixed-media version of the cover art. It will be rewarded to whoever has the most referrals/or videos using the song at the end of the mint period.

it's friday still

on monday i went to big bear with a bunch of my friends to see the first snowfall of the year, but it ended up just torrentially raining for the first day, like so bad that the power went out.

we finally got our snow, and that day the crypto market imploded, my friend crashed his car, AND i got sick. 

i managed to get out of bed over the next two days enough to appreciate the snow outside, but was pretty fucking bedridden. so much so that i missed uploading friday's song yesterday.

so i wrote this to cheat the system.

so so excited to finally be releasing my genesis drop on sound! its been a journey - for the world of web3 and i - but im glad it led to to this point where I can finally share amazing music with this sick community.

lo tengo mal is probably one of my favorite songs ive done, shes a real slapper. i wrote this song with the incredible Mark Johns and my dear friends, The Fund, who produced the track. 

Let me start with a little Spanish lesson, if you didnt know, I was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia. I had to throw in some Spanish in the mix! the phrase lo tengo mal means hes down bad. so, this song is about a dude thats really down bad for a girl, and would do anything for her, but make it a banger.

i really hope you enjoy this song as much as i do, i am truly proud of it and couldnt be more stoked to have it as my genesis drop. thank you to everyone whos here to support, so many more incredible tracks are coming this year, so stay connected friends! <3

"all right" incorporates a lot of musical elements that feel authentically me. intricate guitar parts, glitchy drums, lush chords. 

the lyrics are a blast of best wishes towards someone important in my life who has experienced and overcome an outsized amount of pain. it"s a summer vibe that recognizes
