Verse Works

By placing our trust in any of the "future techs" to solve todays environmental problems, we run the risk of postponing the actions that mattered. Carbon capture is one of those technologies weve engaged in to give us an impression of action; perhaps, unconsciously, in order to cover up our anguish, our helplessness or our guilt. 

Yet we need to keep moving forward. Art has this kind of energy, charismatic and unifying. If I believe little in technology to save humanity, I keep hope in humanity, in its conscience, in the universality of its love. If only one power is given to artists, it is that of being able to touch, sometimes, the hearts of men.

Diamond Exhibition

BEHEADED explores the lore of the Tigerbob and Gossamer Rozen universe in two forms. The beheaded tiger debuted on the cover of Gossamers self-published zine, Grimoire (2019).

BEHEADED (SELF-PORTRAIT) is an expression of the artists reflection on the 14-month period starting the Tigerbob brand and beyond. The mystical female character is one of many who appear adjacent with Tigerbob in the Tigerbob Bestiary collection. Colored pencil and ink are Gossamers primary traditional illustrative medium.

BEHEADED (ITERATION 2) begins to address the mysterious and explicit central narrative about Tigerbobs separated head and body. Part of the "Iteration" series, this piece was made in Google Sheets and uses conditional formatting across multiple animated panels. Colors were sampled from BEHEADED (SELF PORTRAIT).

Both pieces are inspired by arcane topics including grimoires (books of magic), tarot cards, sigils, automatic writing, and bestiaries (collections of beasts and the natural world) that exist in current and prior work. For Gossamer, art is a type of healing magic that comes directly from the mind and manifests into the world, taking many forms.

The narrative of Tigerbob exists in the Tigerbob Genesis collection, the Tigerbob Concepts & Myths collection, and the Tigerbob Bestiary collection of NFTs. Further explorations occur in physical works such as tapestries, tattoos, sculpture, wearable art and more.

Smoke and Mirrors by Justin Aversano is a black and white portrait series. A deep dive into the tarot using the lens of photography. To convey the archetypes in the cards from the real world. This art book and tarot deck is a journey across the Major and Minor Arcana"s; from The Fool to The World and all the Suits in between; Staffs, Swords, Cups, Coins.  

Every character in the story has a short haiku that expresses the meaning of each cards representation. There are multi-media design elements throughout the length of the book that makes the Smoke and Mirrors concept come to life in the palm of your hands. The book includes a Polaroid tarot deck, where the viewer can use as a daily practice to study and engage with the magical symbolism of the tarot and how it relates to your life and experiences.
