The breakthrough work of geneticists and biologists of the twentieth century decoded the sequencing of our DNA, and revealed the science behind what makes each of us who we are. As though the existence of this encoded blueprint must be seen to be believed, genetic sequencing has since been carefully and artfully visualized by scientists over the years  a human-assisted reveal of natures great conceptual painting. 

These visualizations present snippets of our encoding through cryptic grids of colored rectangles compositions of small marks that add up to define us, providing markers for specific traits that exist across people. These sequences become a shorthand for labeling who we are  yet, even in aggregate, these sequences cannot tell the full story of identity.

Of That Ilk imagines how the visualization of scientific sequencing would look if it included all the human attributes that we develop over time and that escape rigid definition. The fictional sequencing in this generative series reveals the blurring, blending, warping, overlapping, and shape-shifting of markings that represent each supposed attribute of our very identities. 

This aesthetic abstraction of data ends up feeling more like us than any objective definition attempted for our individual identities  and the imperfections and variety within these artful visualizations are a celebration of the vast difference in character and quality of every person. By furthering the artistic interpretation of our genetic codes, Of That Ilk appreciates the elegance of life's underlying instructions, while representing how each of us can see these blueprints through in unendingly unexpected ways.

There is a light side and dark side to digital culture and how it changes each of us. Masks protect us and they transform us. For good and for bad. For some having their identity protected gives them a fresh start, they can be who they always wanted to be. Safe from their past, born again. But others use this anonymity to live without consequence and for their own personal gain. 'Meta Masks' explores this transformative nature of physical to digital. Each piece is created by moving between the two states, one informing the other until the artwork exists in duality between a painting and a digital animation. Transformation between physical and digital. Hidden truths. These are the themes of 'Meta Masks' and the themes that permeate our digital culture.

Exploring the concepts of chaos, fungibility and the fractal nature of abstract paint layers dragged onto canvas, a scale is an individual artwork, wholly unique, yet an equal microcosm of a greater work. 

Every scale is a 1 of 1 and exists as both partial, and full ownership of a complete artwork. Created by subdividing large canvasses into individual parcels, scales democratize ownership of Annas work across many collectors. 

With a new drop of 500-1000 pieces scheduled for release every month, a total of 10,000 scales will be minted.

Sub-Liminal examines liminal space through the use of AI. A bridge between reality and the dreamworld aids to give us a glimpse of liminal spaces of our dreams. Liminal spaces that may give us glimpses of the surreal, the unnerving, and even serenity depending on the dreamer.  AI is used to transform fantastical descriptions into images that occupy a liminal space between the real and the imaginary. We dream of strange rooms, scenes and dwellings that could not possibly exist. Sub-Liminal gives us snapshots, hopefully satisfying the need to take another glimpse of a past dream. Sub-Liminal interrogates the notion of the liminal in relation to the virtual and the imaginary, and highlights the potential for AI-generated art to push the boundaries of traditional art forms. Exploring liminal space through AI lets us explore and engage with the boundaries between the real and the imaginary and the known and the unknown.

Marshall Scheuttles Morningstar shows us a Las Vegas in which the sky and the city, both blinkered with stars, stare back at each other impassively. The space between flashes moments which loom on the edge of an impending storm, or stillness in the wake of violent transgression. Caught in the crossfire, the people in Scheuttles photographs are alike in one undeniable regard: each, in his and her own way, is shot through with light. For some, thats Las Vegass inescapable and smothering neon. For some, thats the ominous and ageless light of the desert. And for some its the light that comes with the promise of a brand new daythe crisp sunlight that appears in the east once the morningstar has faded from the sky.
