The Elemental Champions are finally allowed in the arena once more and the stakes have never been higher!

Aos: Six hundred years ago, the priestess of the House of the Arcane came upon a terrible secret. A secret so immense, that it angered both Celestials and the current Emperor, who swiftly punished the women and burned their quarter to the ground. A few nights later, some children that were going through the rubble heard a group of women singing, and to their horror, recognized the priestesses that were vanquished the week before. No longer sworn to the House of Arcane, these women freely walked the streets of the city, protected by the people who saw their return as a sign that they had been wronged. Unwilling to face a revolt, the Emperor pardoned them as long as they were willing to participate in the gladiatorial games. Their opponents would quickly learn that the forbidden knowledge they amassed through their studies was even more dangerous than the sharpest of swords. To this day it is still unknown if they can recall the secret that caused their downfall.

Having long forgotten their human pasts, the Saadari now willingly participate in the games attempting to satisfy their thirst, or find final peace. Kill or be killed, it's a win/win for them. Their bones and fangs are specially sought after by the Osteomancer to create pieces of armor that can be enchanted with magical properties.

Ilgra: You never know what an Ilgra is thinking. Hell, you dont even know *if* theyre thinking. In battle, the Ilgra is known for letting each head suggest its own strategy, and it is impossible to tell which one it will pick. Mix this unpredictability with the fact that the beast is strong enough to crush a Darulks skull with one hand and you have one of the Emperors favorite gladiators. Their behaviour in the Arena was so erratic, that for two centuries oddsmakers at the Tavern refused to take any bets where Ilgra were concerned.

Darulk: Whereas the Whisperers snuck into Massina, the Darulk thundered in like a conquering storm. Preferring a violent approach to get whatever they desired, they ruled over vast areas of the planet for thousands of years, until the first Emperor, joined by the Celestials, united all other races against the demons. Feared and revered in the Arena, perhaps the old adage describes them best: The only way to beat a Darulk is to be a Darulk.

Keymaster: The Celestials known as Keymasters and Gatekeepers are keepers of secrets: the knowledge of all existences, future, past and present. But they do not always see eye to eye. The Keymasters vowed to remain uninvolved, even as demons spilled out of Hell and ransacked Massina. Finally they relented and helped the Emperor to save the world, but in so doing, were cast out of Heaven. Now they live among mortals. It is said that whoever stares into their forehead will see their best possible life, something that has been known to drive even the wisest of priests insane.

Vitra: Sharing the western forests with the Fenrir, the Vitra saw the devastation of the City of the Moon as a dire warning to what would happen to their beautiful home if they did not keep a close eye on the plots and plans of the other races. Highly spiritual, their training allows them to easily connect with their Essence, making them natural priests and terrifying opponents in the arena. It is customary for the eldest female Vitra to choose a house and serve as a priest for at least twenty years.

Gatekeeper: The brutal and stoic cousins of the Keymasters, this race was also cast out when they chose to help Massina to stave off the Darulk invasion. The Gatekeepers consciousness lives a few seconds in the future, allowing them to see the moves of their opponents before they even know what they want to do. This has proven very effective to keep intruders out of the Heavens, and as citizens of Massina, even more useful in their path to Ascension and their burning desire to return home.
