Recently I"ve realized that I really miss making dance music. I really miss putting things out that are fun and feel good. When I started "Alamo", I instantly locked myself into the project and let everything out. It"s a little chaotic, but playful. 

Growing up listening lots of breakbeats and funk, I always envision images of people of the past dancing. 

Music that speaks to you can really evoke memories or fictional stories in your head. Music that really speaks to you might generate a new story each time you listen to it again. I have had so many great conversations with friends about what they see in their heads when they listen to certain songs.

Here"s a short summary of a vision I"m seeing now while listening to "Alamo":

It"s 2050...

Imagine you"re with your best friend in a drop top in the desert. You don"t recognize your best friend, for some reason, but you know they"re your best friend.

Somehow it"s getting darker in the sky even though it"s in the middle of the day and also getting hotter. Both of you start sweating buckets and the car is also bunny hopping up and down, side to side.

You both decide to take off your t-shirts, but when each t-shirt is removed another one is there in its place. This keeps going on and you decide to just keep driving and smoking. You forget about taking off the t-shirts, because there are vampires next to your car chasing you. You have absolutely no way of surviving unless you turn on your hyper thrusters and blast off to the Alamo - somewhere warmer and sunnier. 

Somehow it doesn"t take that long for both of you to get close to the Alamo. Gas prices are nonexistent in 2050, as cars are mostly urine-powered. The sun comes out when you both arrive at the Alamo and things cool off. You put on hoodies. Everything fades to black.

So after working with a publishing label that was treating me like I was a slave, I got stuck in form and this idea that songwriting has to be one way, I took some time to heal because I really couldnt write for months. To help, I decided to ride my bike to clear my head, and one day I envisioned myself rapping a verse on the L.A. River. And thats how Joyride came to life. 

Joyride is an evolving practice of free verses that are straight to it. No form, just me and me philosophies in bars. Its a meditation, its short bits of me, its whatever you want to make it. An opportunity to just allow myself to ride the beat. To create these verses, I would start with a beat I love, rap on it and then send the accapella to Kaui to create something new out of it.

Culture, this first offering/verse off of Joyride came to me after rapping on Kaytranadas production. I wrote the verse in a nite and immediately knew I didnt want to add much else to it. I am very lyrical and I am realizing, sometimes one verse is enough. Sometimes keeping it simple is all you need. Sometimes just riding your own path is what I have to do. 

So this year as Im riding my path, I guess Im using this Joyride as an exercise in getting back to me, getting out of my way, sticking to my journey, continuing to create with bro Kaui who has been working with me for years, Im really excited for how this ride will take me to more paths. Brilliantly conceived and masterfully crafted over the course of five months, Amaznia is composed of a collection of 5,000 unique photographs and Tree of Life, an original short video film with original audio as a 1/1. The collection spans more than a decade of Salgados visits through the Amazon. Among the 5,000 photographs there are 10 categories coupled with numerous traits representing the location, region, and villages Sebastio Salgado immortalized through these journeys.

Primary sale and secondary royalties' proceeds are to benefit Institut Terra, a non-profit organization cofounded in 1998 by Sebastio Salgado and Llia Deluiz Wanick Salgado.

The Javari Valley Indigenous Territory that they inhabit is one of the largest in Brazil, measuring 8.5 million hectares (21 million acres) and is home to several other ethnic groups: Korubo, Matis, Matss, Katukina, and a variety of isolated groups. More than a century of coexistence with nonindigenous people is reflected in Marubo children's education, and learning Portuguese well is an important part of growing up there. This is why many of them end up becoming translators and intermediaries in interactions with government employees (such as nurses at indigenous health posts) and to support indigenous organizations' activities, notably through ongoing participation in expeditions to contact other ethnic groups in the region. Since the 1990s, the region has recorded high rates of hepatitis infection. Documenting the fight against disease was the reason for my first visit to the region in 1998, followed by another visit in 2018.

"When I wrote ETHER with RAC and my long time collaborator Peter Wade, I was feeling overwhelmed by the deep dark days of social medias Cult Of Self-Obsession and the destructive force it has on the world. I felt like I couldnt breathe because there was a larger than life, algorithm-driven monster determined to exploit the worst in all of us. It was crippling. However, in writing this song, I began to shift and shed this destruction and focus on the simplicity of connectinga real connection. I started to shift my CULT OF ME into the COMMUNITY OF US and realized that even on the smallest levels, connection is key to LOVE EVOL. Clearly RAC was connected to that ethos as his production brought these lyrics to life in another dimension that I never could have expected.

My name is Kate Ellwanger, and I make music as Dot. I'm originally from Olympia, WA, and now spend my time between Los Angeles and Ketchum, Idaho. 

"Fever Dream" is the first single from my new EP, and each song on the project represents a different type of battle I've fought with grief and depression over the past year. While the instrumental of this song has a brighter and easygoing feel, the lyrics hint at some darkness underneath the glossy exterior. 

The song paints a surrealistic picture of a person's desire to wake up from the dream states so many of us live in, but going about it in all the wrong ways -- through self-destructive behavior and romanticized substance abuse. It follows the main character on a road trip from LA to Las Vegas, with the lyrics becoming more and more nonsensical and drifting further from reality as the music progresses. 

I wrote this song as a reminder to myself that seeking altered states through those shortcuts will never lead you to true fulfillment or wakefulness -- they just keep you in a feedback loop of dishonest self-reflection, and searching for more highs that ultimately take you nowhere. 

I think this message is especially important during a time when so many of us are trying to find meaning in our lives, but what we see spread across the news and on our timelines devalues human life on so many levels. It's easier to take on a carefree "yolo" mentality in this environment than to truly show love to ourselves and the people around us, because the cognitive dissonance becomes so overwhelming amidst current events.

JRNY Magazine Series 1

JRNY Magazine was founded during the first months of the pandemic back in 2020 on the bases of supporting and pushing the arts forward during these tough times. We believed in building a community of likeminded creatives from around the globe to produce a travel magazine with a difference. Telling stories that inspire and fire up the wanderlust whilst changing the way travel journalism operates with long form writing, hi-end photography and no advertising, just pure content. Our dedication, innovation and drive to make something unique and special has been recognized within the industry when we were awarded Travel Magazine of the Year for our very first issue. 

JRNY was formed in a web2 world with a web3 mindset, we believe in the power of art, community and support and this belief system is at the core of what JRNY stands for. Because of this it made perfect sense for us to bring JRNY in to web3 and become the first travel magazine to tokenize the entire content of a physical magazine. It has been many months in the planning and we have returned to the drawing board on more than on occasion but we are here now and bringing the world of travel & destination journalism to the blockchain. It has taken longer than expected but it was imperative to us that we got this drop done correctly with the our community in mind whilst making sure we act in a responsible manner to continue to build and support creatives both in web3 and beyond. 

We thought long and hard about how to release our genesis token and finally settled on offering the community an opportunity to collect for nothing. JRNY is for the artists and we dont want anyone to be excluded from becoming part of our journey. Its our way of saying thank you for your support, sticking around during the tough times and all the work you are doing in growing and believing in the web3 space.

Pray for Heal was born when a woman who barely spoke any English approached me after jumping off the Amtrak train in 2014, asking me to help her connect with her charter bus. I was in the midst of that situation at the time when two guys (at the same bus stop) who were fans of my music approached me. It was in those darkest days that I found a lot of light in an uncertain situation. They went as far as even asking for pictures with me, and I regained some confidence after that experience and I started to realize that I have this talent for a reason. Felt like I was saved that night!

Music is a universal language--truly loved by all. Through creating this song, both Morgxn and I were able to find some peace during these tumultuous times.  

The origin story: The introduction actually began at a Halloween party hosted at Charli XCX's home. Fast forward to the pandemic, Morgxn sends me a very special vocal he had written in London just before the lockdown. The message and lyrics resonated so deeply that I had to create a song that truly represented how I felt.

Though the song was written before our society shutdown--it had more meaning during.  This song is about the idea of craving touch that feels euphoric and cathartic. After dealing with 2 years of physical separation from our loved ones, this song is a celebration of togetherness and our love for each other.
