devan & i originally had the opportunity to make this song and submit it for the newest fast & furious movie, "Fast X". it was created as an expression of pure adrenaline and devotion to the fast & furious legacy. 

devan made the beat and we sent it over to our good friend, super chilly. he had sent back some lyrics & melodies and i quickly got to recording. we submitted the song, but unfortunately, we didn"t hear anything back from the ppl working on Fast X. regardless of that, we wanted to put out the song anyway. 

we made our own fast X trailer using clips from the actual trailers on youtube, and put our song underneath it. after putting it out, we instantly got great feedback from our audience, confirming the need for this song out in the world. 

midnight driver is definitely a different vibe than my usual, but i love it so much.  its funky and the bass is hard. its great to create songs about other topics (besides love) and experiment with my sound. the process of creating this song was full of pure joy & excitement, and those are the best emotions to have when creating music.

While I Write About You 

I wrote this in June. During that time I was getting over someone, writing a bunch of songs about them as a way of venting. And after many short lived voice memos and poorly played guitar songs, I created this one. This is probably the final song Id written and recorded about them, and a great ending to that chapter. 

I love this song with all my heart. Im in love with the story that progresses as you listen. It starts off painting the picture of seeing someone again for the first time in a while. That feeling where your heart isnt fully healed from whatever had happened previously between you both. The chorus talks about a part of that person that you can never fully get over. Those beautiful eyes will never let me go. 

True. 

I love the back and forth between me describing my feelings and contradicting them with the idea of it being pointless to write songs about this person, because they dont care. And as you continue to listen, the story evolves. The second verse reminisces on old memories. Staying up till 6am. It compares these memories to how things are in the present: Now we act like none of it ever happened. I mention the fact that they wont get the satisfaction of seeing me hurt, because Id already given them so much before. 

And the last minute reflects on what couldve been and what actually happened. It ends off by mentioning the whole point of this person toying with my emotions while Id been in the process of writing about them. Hence the title,

Minimalistic in its nature, Saucy is a bouncy hip hop record made for the people who embody what it means to have sauce. Sauce cant be taught. Sauce is a lifestyle. Sauce is an energy. Sauce is an aura. If you know, you know. 

When I first started writing to this instrumental, I was trying too hard to make it sound good. Guess what, the exact opposite happened. It f***ing sucked. Thats the thing about sauce. You gotta let things happen naturally or else youll get lost in it. To have sauce is to let go and just do you. Once I did that, it became one of my favorite songs of mine.

Piece of Shit 

This song is about reflecting on a relationship you had with someone and realizing that they actually weren"t benefiting you at all. It makes a reference to when we get so worked up over someone- who in actuality- really doesn"t deserve our time or energy. 

I wrote this back in September. It was originally a slower song, and Devan came and put it to a new beat. I think it"s really different then anything I"ve done previously. It"s nice to not write a sad love song for once, and actually release something that depicts the opposite of being in love.  

There"s no one specific person that this song is about. It"s just goes out to all those that fumble the bag. If the shoe fits, please wear it :)

I live for sampling. Everything is a remix.

The first time I heard D.J. Girl by Katalina was at a rave. For the next 10 years, I whole-heartedly believed that was the original song. (DJ Caffeine)

It wasnt until this year that I discovered the original and as a house-head you can imagine my excitement!

I immediately started playing it in all of my sets. I found the acapella and made an edit that felt more aligned with what I play today.

I played it out and people really liked it.

I made a TikTok and it went moderately viral (for me)

Me to myself: Hey I think I might have something big here!

Me to record labels: Hey guys do you like this song?

Record labels: [Silence]

So I made another TikTok with an updated version. And it happened again.

Cool cool cool, so I guess Im doing it on my own.
