& is an homage to my life over the last few months. The high highs and low lows of being a full time participant (aka degen gambler) in this ecosystem can really get to me if I don"t keep my mind actively occupied. I often need to remind myself how blessed we are that these are our biggest problems. 

This piece depicts an auspicious dragon overlooking Miami, balancing creation and destruction with its mere presence. While nothing is being created or destroyed, the dragon"s beautifully chilling presence offers a sense of peace, if only temporary. 

I scrapped the idea for this piece a half dozen times over the last two months. Getting this across the finish line was the most frustrating experience I"ve had as an artist so far. Empathy levels for the artistic process are way up. There were times I walked away for days at a time, only to return to even higher levels of pissed-off-ness. I think the sober June didn"t help  Once I started smoking again, frustration levels lowered a bit and I was able to create a piece I love.

Land Grab is a poignant and thought-provoking digital artwork created by Terry Urban. The piece draws the viewer"s attention to a central figure, a face meticulously assembled from a collage of other visages. This amalgamation forms a face that appears wearied and disheartened, a reflection of the struggles it embodies. The weariness is palpable in the eyes and hand on the face  conveying a sense of frustration and exhaustion.

Positioned in the top left corner, a cherub with its face obscured extends a bouquet of roses, a symbol of beauty and tenderness. However, its obscured face alludes to the erasure of innocence or benevolence in the face of adversity. In stark contrast, the top right corner is ablaze with flames that dance around the letters GOV, representing the government. The flames suggest both upheaval and a plea for attention, conveying the turmoil surrounding the subject"s plea for aid.

At the painting"s bottom, a solitary red rose takes center stage, accompanied by the name LeLe. This poignant detail ties the artwork to a specific tragedythe wildfires in Lahainaoffering a name to the face of suffering and loss. The rose symbolizes love, sacrifice, and resilience in the face of adversity, while LeLe encapsulates the pain and struggle experienced by the town and its residents.

Terry Urban"s digital brushstrokes capture the raw emotions of frustration, sorrow, and hope in a dynamic composition that speaks to both personal and collective experiences.
