"The work is built with a simple premise  what if the color of every pixel is derived from a small number of points which have a hue, an intensity and a direction. Given a simple equation, the color of a given pixel can be determined. You can think of these cones like light sources, and the equation is not dissimilar to how you might explore the mixing of different light sources. Starting with that simple approach, I did my normal thing of turning the volume knob up to 11, and tried to see how I could break this system in different ways, in order to explore the different feelings, moods and expressions that emerge. I gravitate to work which feels illuminated, where light is a central component, and with this study I found light everywhere I looked. The system starts as a simple mathematical function (these are essentially photographs of math), but I like to iterate and iterate to find natural, emergent properties and moments that surprise. Art Blocks x Bright Moments

Metropolis is a long-form generative art collection exploring the node-based systems that enable and possess modern society. These literal and theoretical systems are critical to computing, blockchains, logistics, and most apparently, the formation and function of cities. 

The project will be extended beyond online distribution via individual exhibitions at the five Bright Moments gallery locations around the world. The five primary traits  New York City, Berlin, London, Mexico City, and Los Angeles   stylistically represent their respective city. 

MECHANIC INFORMATION:
- While Metropolis has a total count of up to 1000 mints, only the first 500 will be made available for sale.  
- These first 500 editions will come with the ability to mint a second piece for free. 
- This second mint will be unique, but visually related to the firstcreating a diptych between the two. 
- To claim a second mint, the owner must generate a QR code via the Bright Moments portal and take it to the Bright Moments gallery in the city dictated by its respective city trait on the date of the city's exhibition. 
- Delegate minting of the second piece is possible. If the owner is unable to attend a show physically, they can arrange for another person to redeem. 
- Redeeming after the city's exhibition will not be allowed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

- The style of Metropolis is heavily influence by cubism and abstract expressionism. 
- Technically, the project is an attempt to emulate painting photorealistically within an on-chain algorithm. 
- Metropolis is a demanding program and modern hardware is necessary to view the live generator. Viewing the project on mobile and low-power computers will result in a lower resolution image. 

CONTROLS:
- Pressing the "C" key within the live generator will capture an image.
- Pressing the "4" key within the live generator will reload the piece in 4K resolution (HARDWARE INTENSIVE).

Grails IV

Doomscrolling is a five second, 60fps looping animation modeled after the physical feeling of scrolling through a social media feed on a cell phone.
A digital version of the animation was created using Bens unique generative art framework written in Haskell. Each of the 300 resulting frames were meticulously copied in charcoal to paper, then photographed and sequenced to create a seamless looping, hand-drawn animation.

Alternate is a collection of abstract real-time animations, that start with simple compositions and color palettes to evolve endlessly and to develop a depth in geometry and color over time. All pixel movements are restricted to their eight surrounding neighbors and occur at the speed of exactly one pixel per frame.

The artworks are written in GLSL (WebGL2) and JavaScript, utilize the P3 color space and respond to any screen size.

The code is fully on-chain to be delivered directly from the Smart Contract without any third party render engine involved. Unlike usual, the work extends into the field of action of the preview image, making it part of the work.

Each NFT includes 4 versions of the artwork, that can be alternated by its owner by calling the modify function of the Smart Contract. The alternation call is protected by a fee and can not be reverted.

Atlas is a collection of interactive abstract kinetic paintings illustrating the paradoxical unity of living creatures. Beneath a dynamic but integrated whole, competing cells bubble in disquiet. As perhaps we all do.

Colour is used to represent the cellular dynamics, each piece evolving under its own laws.  Cells are rendered in various palettes and several shapes  from round to square, luminous, and Escher-like. Zooming in you can see the wild nature of individual elements.

Do I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself. I am large; I contain multitudes.

Bidonville is the French word for slum. This series is a somewhat playful and naive take on unplanned urban areas - like a child's view on something terrible. Its a reminder that such places exist all over the world. And that a quarter of worlds urban population live with poor access to robust housing, clean water, electricity, security  To emphasize this, the viewer is being given the power to give or take back access to water and electricity to the Bidonvilles. The piece revolves around the idea of duality. It's both serious and childish. It plays on the contrast between the very crowded slum and the emptiness of the void it seems to float in. Bidonville talks about life and death, and the promiscuity between both in those wild and teeming areas. Hit [W] to toggle access to water, [E] to toggle access to electricity (only visible in night mode). Changes could take up to 30 seconds to show up. Thank you for your patience.
