Slices of TIME is a two-part collection, inspired by TIMEs nearly 100 year history. The collection features four editions: single red border, single white border, double red border, and double white border. The rarity of this collection was determined completely by Slices of TIME collectors and was final and set as of 12pm ET Feb 23, 2022.

The collection includes work by TIME Creative Director DW Pine and 38 incredible artists. TIME selected 19 artists, who in turn picked 19 collaborators, to create two pieces of artone inspired by a year from TIMEs past and one by what they see as a hundred years in the future. So, for example, 1969 and 2069.

BT. The image was created using a hand made training set and Open AI diffusion and VQGAN/ Clip algorithm notebook. The music references a beautiful (and turbulent) year in the world in an idealized and kind of what it felt like. It was a formative year that yielded some of my favorite art, music and films. This is kind of like remembering a past like a polaroid, a blurry version of a complex sense memory.

REO. About 60 years from now I think we will have to have figured out how to upload our conscience. Somewhere free from the idea of dead or alive we exist as a collection of our memories and thoughts. No jobs, no bank accounts, just creating beauty and being part of a collective organism. We will hopefully have successfully migrated to the next evolution of human compassion and empathy.

Setup deets:  
- 488nm (pretty blue) + 495nm cyan) single diode modules going through 33 line generator lens + 50 lines/mm diffraction grating to create the "blinds" effect 
- Cocktail glass inverted in fishbowl + H2O - crystal pear air-trap on top - all on a turntable  
- RGB laser projector making a very narrow band of rainbow pointed at the stem of the pear. As the pear turns, the stem "wobbles" and refracts different colors on the beam

- Lasercube x2 coming from both sides, being reflected down to a couple mirrors on top of flower vases and back up
-Background Color burst (aurora) made with homemade RGB laser projector going through a glass dish (Lumia) refocused by 3" glass ball
- 488nm (pretty blue) x2 going from front to back, around back of centerpiece and then coming back towards the camera 
-495nm (cyan) through star field diffraction grating for background.
- Horizontal beams are 488nm, 520nm (green), 638nm (red)
- Dielectric glass pane in centerpiece is from IG @2waymirrors
- Airtrap glass marbles from the one and only IG @liquidphoenixglass
