AZURE is the fourth song on my EP FAITH. It is the complete, uncut version of a song that my listeners might be familiar with - originally called "testdrive.wav".

AZURE feels like a firework being launched into an intense explosion in the sky, lighting it up on a dark, cold night. Ever since my first EP APOTHEOSIS, I wanted to bring back this kind of energetic feeling in one of my songs, and AZURE incorporates it perfectly.

In this song you"ll find soothing voices hypnotizing you with ancient chants, a mellow orchestra from a distant era accompanying your soul throughout the song, and suddenly... glittery sounds and arpeggios will be exploding over syncopated drums and analog synths.

This is a song about that beautiful moment when you have a crush on someone. Certain things go unsaid but the energy is felt between you. The beat has this beautiful Marvin Gaye type feel but a bit more modern & it reminded me of this gorgeous woman that i like so the lyrics flowed effortlessly. Working with such talented beings as Leo Pastel and Nightshifts was a real pleasure & im grateful we got to connect in the Songcamp session!  Carissa Visionary!

Fun experiment with the Songcamp community. It was nice to connect with Nightshifts, we realized we were both members of Headless Chaos but somehow had never crossed paths. It was also cool to collaborate with Carissa, we have a lot of mutual friends and Im happy to finally connect on a track.  Leo Pastel

The beat was born out of a jam on a wurlitzer over a rolling dreambeat. Then came a groovy bassline and some worbly synth notes. It truly came to life, and became a song once Carissa and Leo blessed it with incredibly infectious verses and hooks.  Nightshifts

Each Session brings together 3 or more musicians from the Songcamp community and gives them one month to create and finish a song together. on september 5th, late at night, i got a text.  it was from deegan.  an audio file.  no instruments, no production of any kind.  just his voice.  

by the time i had reached the end of the recording, i was tearing up.  i'd never heard him so vulnerable and raw.  i immediately dragged the file into ableton 9 and started producing around it.  i worked until 5 am.  it was the most cathartic musical experience i had had in months.  i hope this song can do for you what it has done for me.  <3

This is one of my favorites from the new album that im letting go of early. before i say anything i want to credit my friends and musicians who worked on this: greyson nekrutman on drums @greyson_nekrutman. and one of my good friends mike haliczer on the horns @brassiv_. this track is about my tendency to be in a frantic stressful hurry for no apparent reason when going about life sometimes. perhaps cause i feel i still have alot to prove musically, and i want it all to be manifested NOWNOWNOW. ive made sooo many songs and explored soooo much new creative territory and grown closer to all of my instruments over the past 2 years, but none of it has yet to be heard by the world. if you"re a creative, you could imagine how that feels to go through such a long period of time without being creatively heard or feeling understood. but im glad i took the extra time to really hone in and get it right and make sure the music and rollout is exactly what i wanted. alot of days for me lately are a battle to get back to a state of patience, trust, and mindfullness. this is the first track of my project, so it sort of sets that tone of where im at mentally going into the music the follows after, chaotically having alot of pint up sauce within that im in a hurry to show to you like my life depends on it. this marks the moment i finally emerge from the creative cocoon ive been in for the past 2 years so, cheers.

Going into this project my main goal was simply to make something that Matthew, Kinney and I would all love objectively as listeners. Our tastes are varied but overlap in some special places, "Heavy Calm" hits a lot of those notes with moments of deep bass and pitched down vocals to bring a touch of modernism into what is in essence, a folksy secular song with church-like influences.
