Check On Me ft. Ro Marsalis

I initially went to therapy for anxiety but quickly discovered it was more than just that.

Being present for people has always been a part of my DNA.  Growing up in a big family gently trained my heart to be intentional with those I love and just people in general. My grandfather was a kind soul and I always remember him teaching me and my cousins during the summers we spent together to watch out for one another. To protect one another. And to check on one another.

I remember at young age my mother walking by my room, peeking her head in and saying, Hey son, what are you doing? Are you okay? And in turn as I got older and matured, I would do the same to herevery so often asking her what she was doing and making sure her heart and mind were settled. And if not, she was very open with me about it.

And so, as the years have gone by, I do my best to echo that gesture to others. My family, my friends, and even some just people I know. Randomly, consistently, and genuinely checking in. However, Ive also come to learn over the years that not all people have the habit of checking on their friends built into their DNA.

Being the strong friend of my circle and influencer of other friend circles also gives me the reasonability to share and spread that sentiment that we should really take time to check on our friends. Because after spending so much time consistently, intentionally, and genuinely checking in on peopleI suddenly realized I needed some of those same people to check on me.

My name is Alex aka Boys Noize, DJ & producer from Berlin, Germany. I started to DJ in clubs when I was 16. As a teenager I was working in a house and techno record store, so when I started to make my own music I decided to create my own label to be 100% independent. The music was released through limited presses of vinyl - it was music for DJs only. You were only able to find the music in a select network of house & techno record stores around the world. 

After the first few releases, well known DJs started to play my tracks in their sets, and I suddenly was getting booked both as DJ and to remix the likes of Depeche Mode and Daft Punk (!!). Out of the 100 remixes Ive done there were indeed some hits, and these propelled me to big stages like Coachella and Glastonbury and studio sessions with A$AP Rocky, Bon Iver, Frank Ocean and Lady Gaga.It still feels surreal to think about where it all started.

This brings me to my release today. Cwejman is a classic Boys Noize banger - unreleased until now - and its a big one in my current DJ sets. The name "Cwejman" comes from one of my modules in my modular system that I"ve used to create the main sound of this track. 

Bringing limited editions to the digital age gives me the same vibes I had in my early days when I spent all my money on limited vinyl presses. Every DJ knows the feeling of dropping something rare in their sets, something that few others have. Offering DJs that feeling again while supporting artists is the magic of Sound.xyz
