Sometimes a photograph looks more like a painting with the light, colors, and shadows in the image. One of my favorite things about photography is creating images that have more of a "painting" feel to them. I love to do this with abstract and macro images, and sometimes an entire scene can be captured this way. I have taken so many photos over the years at this lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, but on this night, the image had such a surreal and dreamlike feeling - I felt like I was sitting in front of a painting at a museum. I was so lost in this sunset as the world faded around me and I just sat in awe as watched the colors set over the calmest conditions I have ever seen here.

A variant AI collection exclusively for Rorschach Holders. This collection exists as an extension of the abstract photography collection referred to as "Rorschach"s."

Every piece in the Pareidolia collection is an AI interpreted variant of each original Rorschach. Each Pareidolia piece is airdropped to the holder of the original Rorschach that correlates with the Pareidolia piece at the time of the drop.

"Pareidolia" is a scientific term that"s based on the minds tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. When the mind has difficulty ascertaining the meaning behind what its looking at, it creates meaning.

Part of the allure of Rorschach"s was how we all interpreted the imagery based on our own perception. The visual fluidity of each image evolved from person to person.

The majority of the photographs in my Rorschach collection are completely abstract and therefore the things we perceive within them technically aren"t there (Depending on your beliefs) But what appears to be something objective in a Rorschach isn"t actually there but rather the Pareidolia effect.

But what if the interpretation of a Rorschach was no longer fully left in the hands of a human mind but assisted by an Artificial one? What if AI interpreted what was in each Rorschach based on what it sees? Well at that point the subjective imagery of a Rorschach becomes mostly objective.

Rorschach"s is a collection of Abstract photography that uses tenants of the Psychological Ink Blot test as part of its foundation & are derived from various photos within my Photography portfolio. Each Photograph is designed to invoke subjective imagery based on the perception, imagination and psychological perspective of each individual holder. 

The intent behind Rorschach"s is to challenge the notion that Art and collectables within the NFT space & beyond require a complex story or a deeply nuanced narrative in order to have value. Instead every Rorschach allows for each individual viewing it to form their own story, meaning and emotional connection with it. Like a great deal of Art this allows for potentially endless possibilities but on a larger and more distinctive scale.

Rorschach"s are photographs but more than that they"re photos that are morphed, mirrored and transformed into unique 1/1 piece"s of abstract photography. Each Rorschach is determined by the elements held within the original photo which are derived from an infinite number of traits from water, bone, skin, light, shadow, people & more.

To me this image is a beautyful metaphore to us citizen of web3 that are still active during the historical bear market of 2022. We are still here. And we are not leaving. Resilience!  
  
While cruising through the deserts that surround Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, i suddenly had the feeling of seeing a fata morgana. 
In the distance, it looked like there were trees growing in the middle of this vast landscape of sand dunes.

I drove a little closer and confirmed that i was not just having issues with my eyesight and was instantly excited!

These trees are known as Ghaf trees (Prosopis Cineraria) and they can survive in conditions that would kill most plants.  
Standing strong in the middle of a deadly environment, their greens showed me that theres always the chance to adapt and survive even the weirdest situations. Therefore this image carries a message to me that is very important!

I hope this image gives you hope and strength too!

Technique: 
Single capture at 500mm focal length to compress the perspective and further enhance the surreal mood of the scene. Signature editing in Adobe Photoshop balancing tonalities and colors.

I was with friends, and excited for the flight, when we noticed a cloud bank encroaching on the island.  Helicopters aren"t allowed to fly through cloud banks, so we were extra lucky to be able to get above the clouds to capture some truly unique images that night.

Dancing In The Dark - An Edition By Jordan Grobe

Im a Concert Photographer - in 2019, I attended / worked 200 shows. In 2020, I only made it to 18.

This photograph is from that 18th show, taken on March 4th, 2020. It captures the essence of what I then spent the next 18 months with the National Independent Venue Association fighting to preserve.

Photography kept me sane through those months of anxious volunteering and lobbying. My camera opened the door for education and experimentation, and provided an outlet for my energy and creativity. Photography helped me find the light, in the dark.

Every piece youve seen of mine was borne from that experience - my entire artistic portfolio serves as a representation of my growth as an artist at a time when I could not practice my core craft nor participate in the joy that is communal concerts. I had been furloughed from work, so I dove into creating photographic works of art.

All of my works stem from this one.

All of my works have underlying musical melodies tied to their creation, a tune that repeated on the radio in my head throughout the process.

Im sure you can guess the companion soundtrack for this one.

Dancing In The Dark

Landscape photography has always been my escape from reality. But having to figure out how to be a landscape photographer in a place like the Midwest isn"t easy. There is no epic mountain scenery or massive flowing waterfalls to focus on while you hone your craft. I had to find my own visual language to portray the emotions that I feel when I am out shooting. This daily work that I have created over the past 7 years is heavily tied to my compositional style and color palette, both of which are things I borrow from my other passion: Design. But probably the single most important element to any of my work is the atmosphere and emotion that I try to find in every scene that I capture.

Every single photograph in this collection was captured within 50 miles of where I currently live in Michigan, or where I grew up in rural Ohio. The vast majority of it was captured by waking up extra early before leaving for my full time job, or by waving goodbye to my family to go chase a sunset after dinner. Its caused many fights and struggles, but overall I needed this little escape in my life in order to stay balanced.

As time went on and I got more into landscape photography I began to travel to all of those epic locations across the world that I always dreamed of visiting. But at the end of each trip I was faced with coming back home to the mundane, and it almost felt like I had to learn how to photograph it all over again. Years upon years of this led to Seasonal Affective Disorder hitting me regularly, a constant feeling of burnout. Sometimes I would go weeks at a time without touching a camera and other times I would push through and use my creativity to come out the other side, but one thing always remained steady: I was constantly documenting my surroundings and capturing similar scenes in unique ways and I found a lot of solace in that.

As I look back on 7 years of this daily work, I can"t help but feel a bit overcome with emotion seeing all of it fit together like puzzle pieces into one big collection. Like this is what it was meant to be all along the way. Watching a constantly evolving landscape constantly change through 4 seasons year after year, is a special and rewarding experience. Some of the locations I photographed no longer exist at all. These images act as a time capsule taking me back to each moment of capture.

I will continue to photograph daily, but this collection of 1/1s will stand alone as a testament to the years I spent learning and honing my vision as an artist.
