Research Lab Cool Cats are a collection of programmatically, randomly generated NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. The 1st generation consists of 7777 randomly assembled cats from over 99k total options. CCLABs that have a variety of outfits, faces, skeletons and colors - all cats are cool, but golden skeleton cats are the coolest. Each Cool Cat is comprised of a unique body, hat, face and outfit - the possibilities are endless!

NGs ARE THE CULTURE

WHAT ARE NGs?

NGs are a limited collection of 1,111 hand-crafted artworks that encapsulate crypto culture and pay homage to its contributors.

PROCESS

Each NG was created one at a time using an analogue process that blends the techniques and styles of JakNFT and Hiroji Kotegawa. The process combines glitch, animation, sculpting and 3D modeling with rigorous curation.

CURATION

NGs were meticulously curated pre-mint. Over the course of 6 months, Jak and Hiroji created over 5,000 original NG pieces by hand, but only selected a limited supply of 1,111 premium outputs to be included in the final curated collection.

DIVERSITY

There are 111 different types of NGs, including original characters created by Jak and Hiroji, as well as works that borrow from and pay tribute to various crypto cultural contributors. Several 1/1s are also hidden in the collection.

Elements is a collection inspired by the visual components of art including color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value. Machine learning was used to build a library for every component separately, and then they were combined in different ways to create each unique work. While properties are assigned to each piece of art in the metadata, the aesthetic value must be assessed by you.

Harmonic

Harmonic is a collection of 250 unique works, fusing the possibilities of generative algorithms with machine learning models. Each artwork, with layers reminiscent of the bottled sand art, invites the observer on a journey to discover the details created by tiny particle grains that build on each other with mathematical precision.

Imposter Syndrome by ippsketch

I feel like an imposter. Pseudo-anonymous as *ippsketch* while maintaining an engineering career and family life. I live on the edge of two worlds, immersed in self-doubt. Leaning into each space, I bring a part of each world with me, but wonder if what I bring is enough. I question my identity while learning to embrace it. Art, after all, is made by ordinary people. And I wonder, does anyone really know what they"re doing?

*Imposter Syndrome* is an expression of my seeming dual existence and my feelings of not being enough in many aspects of life. But I do not mean for this to be entirely prescriptive to the work and often see other interpretations and meanings myself, such as anytime I straddle the edge of something new, when I"m on the fence and making a decision between two directions of my life, or if I consider the shadow or light I cast in the spaces and people around me. These pieces move me differently from day-to-day.

This work leans into minimalism. As trends in generative art push toward the visually complex and highly technical, I find my current focus on simple composition and compelling structure. I"m also drawn to broken symmetry, which echos my dual artist/engineer life and is also what I consider to be a visual representation of generative art - design and order on the one hand, random variation within constraint on the other.

Color palettes echo those used in *Bent*. Simple and bold colors with stark black and white support. Pieces are rendered in a default poster size (3:4), but are also adaptive to screen size so that they can fit any display. The work can be interacted with by pressing the number keys 1, 2, 3, 4 to see the steps of construction.

Bright Moments

"Esqueje" is the Spanish equivalent of cutting or clone. This consists of a fragment of stem cut from a plant and introduced into the ground so that it can take root with the intention of reproducing it, thus generating new clones.

"Esquejes" is a generative system resulting from algorithmic gardening, which seeks to push the uniqueness of each pixel to the limit. "Esquejes" generates interesting shapes and textures using several layers of shaders. In this way, the work seeks to make each pixel different from its neighbor and not lose its individuality in the universe of synthetic images. Because if there are infinite numbers, there are infinite colors.
